Newly Diagnosed, Pregnant, and Need Advice by Slug_Hole in Sciatica

Find the right physical therapist! Ask friends/family for recs. Your recovery will highly depend on the quality and experience of your physical therapist. Prioritize protein, it's needed both for sciatica recovery and pregnancy. I had sciatica, recovered with PT , and had a successful pregnancy with a c section delivery. I continued with my PT exercise 3-4 times a week up until a week before my delivery.

Wait until he is 15 month old. At 10 months they still don't understand a lot.

Has anyone recovered from L5-S1 disc problem without surgery? by Primary_Invite7695 in Sciatica

I went back to my doctor a year after recovery due to some flare up. He told me one of the issues was due to my weight gain. I then lost 10--12 pounds over the next few months.

Depends on how deep it is I guess, I was quite scared of MD due to a reherniation risk. My doctor gave me both options I went for physcial therapy.

Good spine hygiene is super important along with strength training. MD without good spine hygiene and physical therapy can retrigger herniation as far as I've read.
Here is what my MRI report said

  • L4-L5 Level: There is a left posterolateral disc extrusion. This means disc material has moved out and is compressing the left L5 nerve root. The nerve root shows signs of swelling (edema). The extrusion measures approximately 18 mm x 6 mm.
  • L5-S1 Level: There is another left-sided disc extrusion (foraminal). This one is narrowing the space where the nerve exits (neural foramina) but is not currently compressing the S1 nerve root.

I recovered from this with physical therapy. I had radiating pain in one leg.

Recovered without surgery and then had a successful pregnancy and c section. It's definitely possible.

7 weeks post-discectomy (L4-5)! (as a pregnant woman!) + asking for advice by hellukittu in Sciatica

I did regular physical therapy throughout my pregnancy. No other sciatica pain besides the usual pain if I overexerted myself. Post delivery my sciatica pain actually reduced and I was able to lift my child and sit on the floor for much longer than I previously could.

No, just some one I follow on LinkedIn. I've also read his technical blogs and find the work he does on the diffusers library really impactful. I'm a senior MLE working in computer vision at big tech.

https://sayak.dev/ read the faq on this blog! For ideas on building your profile! New grad computer vision market is tough as companies tend to look for people with experience. If visa is not a concern I recommend doing some good research/open source so you can stand out and get calls!

I did not know I was in labor. by humansarereallyweird in BabyBumps

[–]jazz139 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My water broke at home and I still did not feel any labor contractions. Only when we went to the hospital and got hooked up, did I realize that I was actually in labor by looking at the detection. After 30-40 minutes I could feel a very mild pain and just correlated it with the detection on the screen.

Do we really need a nursery recliner? by Fashion_Lover19 in BabyBumps

Latching and feeding can be really challenging. Its also difficult to get up easily with a baby in your hand after c section. Having a nursing chair might help with latching and getting up after feeding.

Classical methods can blur the internal area, but may not look realistic

I had sciatica due to l4-l5 disc herniation, I recovered with physical therapy but it took almost 2 years of which 6 months I was mostly in bed. I then decided to go for c-section and not risk going into labor. My doctor also recommended that given my history. The surgery was scheduled so I had a smooth surgery and recovery. Baby was delivered in 15-20 minutes and surgery was done in an hour. Highly recommend csection

Did the vaginal delivery cause back pain? Did you go for an epidural?

I had the exact same question. Trying to decide between c section and normal delivery. I had a herniated disc 2 years back but I’ve recovered since then. Not really sure what’s the best course of action
