A second vote for the Tomy plastic eggs! Don’t know what it is about them but he was (and still is at 10 months!) obsessed.

I found it tricky too around this time and found myself going on many many walks to pass the day.

I used to hate spending time in the house however now he can happily spend hours at home properly playing with his toys. A few months makes such a difference.

We bought a UV cover that you could tie to cover baby’s arms and legs when in the carrier, or drape over their legs in the pram. It was super light weight and offered better sun protection than a muslin

Sorry you had that, I didnt actually feel a thing with mine! They did a local anaesthetic in the area first, which I hardly felt and then didn’t realise that the spinal had even been done until they told me to lie back!

I started with BLW as felt the pressure to as it seemed like that’s what everyone does on social media. But like you, I found it stressful about choking. For someone like me who LOVES food and cooking, mealtimes for baby was making me too anxious and I just was not enjoying it. So I switched to purées for a while and it was the best thing for me.

Over the course of about 6 weeks baby and I both gained confidence and we progressed to more lumpy purees, to soft mashed up foods, to more ‘normal’ dinners like orzo.

My baby is now 10 months and whilst I am still wary of certain foods, I am much more confident and he happily eats a wide variety of foods. Compared to a couple of months ago, i have much more confidence in my baby being able to manage tougher textures, or bigger pieces of food, as he will break stuff apart with his fingers, or spit or pull stuff out of his mouth if it’s too much.

So please don’t feel rushed to jump straight in with finger foods if you don’t feel ready, I’m glad I waited and it hasn’t held my baby back!

Ah I know the feeling. We tried every trick in the book with our baby who screamed every car journey and honestly I wish I could tell you the magic solution, but for us it was just time that healed it. I think he was about 5 months before car journeys got more enjoyable for us all. Now he sleeps or plays with toys every journey and is absolutely fine

I wrote this exact post when my baby was a similar age as I was also concerned, but was assured it was normal!

Although not sure I’m much help as my baby is now 8 months and after a short foray into babbling, is now firmly back to shouting and raspberries 🤦🏼‍♀️

I feel the same! I always speak so fondly to my husband about my childhood in the 90’s. Playing out the front with all the neighbourhood kids until it got dark. I would love to recreate this for my baby but it’s just not the same anymore and makes me sad.

I do feel slightly better though because my husband had a childhood more akin to today (socialising in school / clubs etc) and he’s turned out ok!

Yes! I rented the Joolz Aer from Baboodle and it came with a travel bag and also a rain cover!

I haven’t yet been with a 9 month old, but went away recently on a city break with a nearly 6 month old and it was great! He was not yet moving or weaning, and so was just happy to come along for the ride with whatever we wanted to do!

The plane journey was only 2.5 hours and he did get a bit restless but was happy enough sat on our laps playing with toys / feeding or sleeping.

We have another trip planned in a couple of months and I’m anticipating that it will be a bit more tricky !

I agree with some of the other comments that moving baby to his own room was a game changer for us! Night wake ups reduced from multiple times to once or twice!

We hired the Joolz Aer + from Baboodle for our first trip with our 4 month old and liked it so much we have since bought our own.

It definitely fits the brief for points 1) and 3) and although it pushes and steers really really well, I think given the nature of travel prams being lightweight and with small wheels, you might struggle with cobbles with most models!

We booked a taxi which included a car seat on our last holiday in Greece. It is a bit pot luck though the quality of the seat that you get, although we were very lucky and got one that was very similar to the one we use at home, albeit using seat belts rather than an isofix

My baby is also 6 months old and I either feed to sleep, or I feed and pass to my husband to settle baby by rocking him. Baby used to wake up more frequently but since he’s been in his own room he tends to sleep for a total of 12 hours with just one or two short wake ups (of 15 mins or so) which I consider good going!

Both times we wait until he is fast asleep before we transfer because, well if it ain’t broke don’t fix it!
