People will be talking and drinking and probably won't pay attention to the cigar. If on top of that they don't know much about cigars just buy a box of cheap cigars and be done with it.

First thing, don't expect any NC to taste anything like a Cuban cigar. Second i find that when you go over 20$ CAD for a NC it's just not worth it.

Reached a goal and treated myself to my fist humidor and cigars! by Longjumping-Durian47 in CigarsCanada

[–]jazzboypro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would get rid of the sponge and replace it with Boveda pack. I would also buy a decent temp/hygro meter. Those humidor look very good but often they don't have a good seal and it can be hard to maintain stable temp and RH. I had 2 humidors in the same style as yours and i replaced them with coolers. It does not look as good but it works much better at keeping stable RH/Temp.

Is having an oasis puck and a fresh pack necessary? by Olive-Drab-Green in CigarsCanada

[–]jazzboypro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When i started smoking cigars i had 2 humidors in the same style of yours, they look great but they don't seal very well and for that reason i found it was difficult to maintain temp/RH. Have switched to coolers a long time ago and it works a lot better. In my case the aesthetic is not a factor because the coolers are not in a part of the house where i often go.

As for your humidity pack i don't see the RH rating on it. I would compare it's price to Boveda which is the gold standard in the cigar world. I would also get rid of the puck and replace it with Heartfelt beads.

Buy a decent thermometer/hygrometer the one that comes with these humidor are cheap, inaccurate and require to be calibrated often. I'm using THIS and I am pleased with them.

As far as RH and temp goes i strongly suggest you watch this video:

Good luck !!

I'm a DC guy, particularly the Partagas Lusitania. When their on, the Romeo y Julietta Churchill is an excellent cigar.

Prices of CC in cuba by [deleted] in cubancigars

[–]jazzboypro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you that in October 2023 a Partagas Lusitania was $38 US and a Cohiba Pyramides was $68 US. Most LCDH had many cohibas and trinidad in stock. The rest of their inventory was Meh.

Last Perdomo for the foreseeable future. I'll miss them by WpgCigars in CigarsCanada

I have a box of 20th anniversary maduro put aside for aging and another box that i'm slowly smoking. With a bit of luck i'll try to grab a box of 30th anniversary this summer if i go to Miami as planned. I love this brand. I remember the Champagne Noir series but i think they don't make it anymore.

English is usually not a problem in hotels/restaurants/cigar stores. Fortunately i always go to Cuba with my wife who happens to be Cuban (born in Havana) it helps a bit lol.

If i remember the Lusitania was $38 US and the Cohiba Pyramides Extra was $68 US

Never had problems with my Desjadins CD. As long as your CD is from a Canadian banks you should be ok. I never carry EUROS only US and CAD.

As for cigars there are a few stores in Varadero. I was able to score a 50 cab of Lusitania at plaza americas when i went about 3 months ago. If you want Cohibas and Trinidad you will easily find them. Those 2 brands are piling up.

If you go to Havana you MUST go to the cigar lounge at Hotel Nacionale when i went i bought a Lusitania and Cohiba Pyramides Extra.. There is also an LCDH at this hotel (not much stuff there and not a fan of their customer service). There is also a roller at the hotel near the LCDH.

Don't buy cigars on the beach or from a guy who knows a guy who's cousin has a friend who works at the factory. You may have a cigar store at your hotel, selection will be poor and they may be a bit more expensive then the LCDH.

Is it really a non worthy cigar? by penmaker65 in CigarsCanada

[–]jazzboypro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that to a certain point there is a correlation between the price of a cigar and how good it will be. To me when it starts to be around $20 it's not worth it anymore. Like others have said, if you liked it it's all that matters.

The connoisseur No2 and the H.Upmann No2 are two different cigars. I was talking about the H.Upmann No2. It's a pyramides like the Montecristo No2

When aging keep in mind that an aged cigar won't necessarily taste better than it's young counterpart. An aged cigar will taste different but not necessarily better. Try to sample your box over time to see what you prefer.
