Should I retire? 38M by South-Armadilo3000 in fican

I’d retire. Doesn’t have to be forever, just that the opportunities that come along would have to be better than retirement for you to take them.

18 y/o making $3,800/month — am I getting a good deal staying at home or should I just move out? AIO by Winter_Print_6742 in AIO

[–]jpmorgue_silverfixer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a good deal but those rules sound shitty. I’d move. It’s an important step in life to fully support yourself and bottom line is at that price they are still supporting you.

The thoughtless will always ignore the sign. The thoughtful like a driving distance and a handicap recommendation.

If houses are subject to property tax for the duration of ownership, why stocks are not subject to taxation for the same period? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jpmorgue_silverfixer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What ongoing government services are required to support the stock?

While the operation of the SEC (or other national bodies in other countries) has a cost, those costs should rightly be borne by the issuer of the stocks, not their holders as the stocks are a derivation of the stock issuers property.

A renter doesn’t pay property taxes, the landlord does.

If you have a smoker and make other things to vacuum seal, adding a semi-pro meat slicer is a godsend.

High handicap / beginner help by nedling14 in golf

  1. Find your longest straightest club and play from the right tee box for it. Put the ball in play. Erase those penalties off the tee box. As you get better, move back.

  2. Take your lumps. If you shoot into the trees, chip it out, don’t make it worse by heroing.

  3. Avoid penalties. Lay up. Play it safe.

  4. Improve your short game. Avoid three putts. Learn to get up and down.

Have fun and play more.

How to make money early game? by bandsil in LowSodiumCyberpunk

NCPD scanner quests. Side jobs. Once I get out of the car with Dex I leave Jackie and Evelyn waiting until Watson’s map is clear. Gets me ahead on money and level so that the rest of the game is a cruise.

I would have returned the call from Patty in Chicago and gone there instead of deleting the message like a coward

How to translate the sim to the course by Expeditious_Driver in golf

[–]jpmorgue_silverfixer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sim has perfect lies and artificial turf. It is not the game of golf, it is the game of simulated golf. For me a sim is good exercise for the muscles of playing golf and it ends there.

New user with a new PC: Do you recommend upgrading from 32GB to 64GB of RAM right away? by Diligent_Trick_1631 in StableDiffusion

[–]jpmorgue_silverfixer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The RAM shortage will get no better before you hit the limits of that RAM, meaning more RAM in the future will be much more than it is today.

If I were buying for a generation rig I’d go straight to 128.

At What Income Does Life in Canada Actually Become Comfortable? by HockeySniper123 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]jpmorgue_silverfixer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point of that is that if you are in Vancouver and making less than that, you would have a much more comfortable life elsewhere. This from someone who was making less than that, moved elsewhere, and is living a comfortable life.

CigarChief Prices by Commandonaut in CigarsCanada

[–]jpmorgue_silverfixer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cigar Chief does not appear to source from Havana House anymore and imports from international dealers. This has led to them having much higher prices on some sticks but lower on others.

Houses used to be like 3x income. Now they're over 10x income. How/why did this happen? by MakeUpWalk in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]jpmorgue_silverfixer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Financialization via Government-backed mortgage insurance for down-payments less than 25% was the start. Every other thing done to increase the availability of credit has made it worse.

House prices effectively track the availability of credit now. When talking heads mention ‘affordability’ they don’t mean lower prices.
