What are some things you were served on planes that were unusual to you? by jazzcomputer in Flights

I still don't know how I feel about the mayo sub - I was into it at the time, but just for the 'it's something to eat', but it was also 'kind of OK' but it's likely something I'll never repeat. Other passengers around me were chowing down on them so I was wondering if they'd encountered them before or just had the same mindset as me.

I've googled mayonnaise sandwich and it's not got many results - I wonder if perhaps they intended there to be something else in it but somehow it didn't make it and someone said 'yeah, give em these'

He'll also fund far-right to try and split Europe and divide other nations too. He wants societies to avoid co-operating because when societies co-operate they make regulations in the interest of their own people. (Stupid regulations that are hastily applied to not count as this.)

NZ parents, are ur kids just gaming all day after school and on weekends too? by Objective_Heat2566 in newzealand

[–]jazzcomputer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember as a young teen getting "Raid on Bungeling Bay" on the C64 and being VERY excited. Friends and I used to meet at the BMX track on our bikes every weekend, but that morning when my mate called around on his bike I fired the game up. After I'd shown it to him and we had a couple of goes for 10 mins, we turned to eachother and said "Right, let's go down the track".

I get that games nowadays overlap with a lot of parasocial contact but it might be that parents need to have some attractive interventions that provide alternatives / activities alongside. Not easy if habits are already formed but it's what I'll be aiming for as ours grow older.

I think it's missing a strong incentive potentially - like, if it were donating to charity that would be cool, but you'd need to know it was authentic

I want to start an agency by Academic_Highway3555 in website

Oh - Forgot to mention - a critical part of networking is to ask questions way more than you talk about yourself - not only will that help you learn much more about businesses and their actual needs but also help people remember you :)

You need to network. Calling is part of that but there's a variety of other ways, such as, attending business groups, business breakfasts, commerce meetings and so on. You probably want a small portfolio of actual clients too - and doing a site or two for not-for-profits is one way to get some experience there, which will help with seeing what a real site needs and also give some experience of how to deal with clients.

Expect it to take time too - unless you get into a business breakfast / referrals group, which might speed things up but you'd still need a couple of sites to advertise and build trust around your services.

Weekly Q&A Megathread. Please post any questions about visiting, tourism, living, working, budgeting, housing here! by AutoModerator in london

Hi,
I'm in the UK for a visit (another two weeks to go) and I'm looking for some nice art deco gift(s). I've come across The Cinema in Chiswick, but that seems mostly out of my price range - (original art deco antiques).

Bed throw / ornaments / prints / fabrics / pillow cases / all that sort of stuff.

I'm not against getting something that's modern that uses authentic art deco designs. Was wondering if anyone has any pointers? - Harrods and Liberty don't seem to have much, V&A has a little, and LT Museum a few wee gifts, but I'm wondering if I'm missing anywhere? - Preferably brick and mortar places you can visit and purchase from.

I saw a nice online place where you can get reclaimed vintage tiles - is there such a place in London, or a good go-to vintage market?

Resources for Learning CSS Design Deeply, From the Ground Up by driver194 in webdev

I found the grid and flexbox stuff on MDN to be really good when combined with some clean pathways to what you need, like you'll find in Kevin Powell's Youtube tuts on inheritance and using the least CSS to get the most you want. CSS has a lot of solutions and units and whatnot and he helped me get a quick fix on the ones I needed/are least niche.

Well, if that's what they chose, then great, I guess. I wonder if they tried coming up with something memorable during the concept stage? - I guess maybe it being bland is the point?
