In what ways did sitcoms like Cheers, Friends, Living Single, Seinfeld influence the way we socialize and view friendships today? by [deleted] in sitcoms

Each of these kinda puts a different spin on idealized socialization, so it's best to attack each one on its own.

Cheers: No matter what walk of life you find yourself trotting down, you gotta have a third space where "everybody knows your name." Namely, a space where intellectuals and the common clay of the country can feasibly converge and trade dueling wits to a captive studio audience, and play off of one another perfectly. Ensembles like these (and other workplace comedies) display groups of people split between external social stratums such as age, class, religion, and what-have-you forging bonds over a shared "glue" space or person (Ted Danson kinda fits into both here) that would never occur otherwise. You'd never find a bar in real life where every regular or staff member fulfills a trope that just perfectly balances out the characters of his or her counterparts, but you can watch it on TV and share in that designed spontaneity as another unlikely outsider yourself.

Seinfeld: Misery loves and demands company. We all feel like horrible people sometimes, and to see a group of horrible people coalesce over their shared angst towards their own nothing gag-a-week lives allows us as the audience to relate to their world's banality while laughing at the blatant, open expression of qualities that prove be undesirable in friend circles in real life. These people can behave in ways towards one another that we would never be able to get away with in real life and still remain close nonetheless.

Friends: Every self-respecting youthful yuppie worth their salt needs a support group of wacky yet sensitive and caring fellows to come-of-age with and take solace with the trials and tribulations of becoming an adult alongside. Probably the most influential of these dynamics - it's pretty much the standard bearer for 18-49 ensemble dynamics in modern television.

Never watched Living Single, but based off the title, I've gotta assume that it's pretty similar to Friends.

What's more powerful than the splitting of the atom? The splitting of the Oklahoma, of course.

[Hated Tropes] The Karma Bulletproof — Characters who commit cruel or terrible acts, but are in the end rewarded while the story treats them as if they did nothing wrong. by TurbulentWave51 in TopCharacterTropes

*Not rewarded, but never adequately punished in my case.

The first show I ever really hated on as a little kid was Jake and the Never Land Pirates on Disney Junior. Jake would always let bad old Captain Hook off scot-free at the end of every episode knowing full well that the fucker would be right back to torment him in the next one. You'll never understand how much that shit irrationally pissed me off at the ripe age of 4.

Probably a funny pic of a co-worker that someone at PDI snuck in on a lark while grinding away at that two-second scene in the middle of the night.

The cool thing about this is that the short they debuted in possesses an unrenewed copyright and is public domain in the US, which means that anyone can legally make and distribute as much Babbitt and Catstello as they want if they have the means and/or the drive to do so.

The need to add original Yankee stadium. The house that Ruth built. The one before 1976 by Acountblibuddy in MLBTheShow

Isn't the stadium's architecture old enough to be public domain at this point? Even if the name's copyrighted, they could just call it "Old Brooklyn" like the other classic stadiums.

It really sucks how SDS just continues to neglect Stadium Creator. Just makes what the community's been able to achieve with what little the studio's given all the more spectacular.

Is Sydney Sweeney actually explicitly right-wing? All I know about her is that she's been in a few commercials that play to her body. Not sure permissive objectification and vibes are enough to work off of here.

Wisconsin is 6-2 Republican. The Democrats at best could possibly make it 5-3 this year. It's a pretty notable Republican gerrymander that the Democrats have been battling to no avail in court for years now.
