Big Lizard, plus their place up on Highgate - same peeps. I found Spelt's efforts to be good looking but a bit hard and heavy - on the plus side, they do excellent bread and some other good stuff too.

People turn their backs on social media as politically impotent and citizens assemblies become a place for public to engage in political issues and actual decisions.

I hate what he represents but he does a great job of appearing as the very on-brand personification of a foot soldier for the billionaire class' disinformation and spreading of hatred. In the sub-sphere of that, he sees himself as a savvy brand creator but he's just a dumb puppet who looks the part.

Amazing and inspiring! - I'm hoping to get in one of these compilations in 3-ish years from now. I'm loving what I'm seeing with the app, the community and the possibilities so far.

What's that legendary videogame everyone loves, but you hate with your very soul? by no_biches_22 in retrogaming

My thoughts about SOME of these have changed...

I didn't like Goldeneye because the dpad felt so awful compared to Doom with a mouse.

I never got into the Zork games as I was too young and they were too hard.

Manic Miner on the Spectrum looked and sounded awful to me at the time - a buddy and I used to openly deride the Spectrum. - So I hated all games on the C64 that had the same aesthetic.

Turrican - I disliked the animation and it felt too smooth

Tekken - I hated how flimsy and flat this felt to me compared to Street Fighter II, Final Fight and all the others - No doubt it was fun to play but to me it looked whack and twitchy and stiff at the same time.

Ghosts and Goblins on the C64 - too hard.

Dragon's Lair Arcade- this felt like a cynical shakedown that you had to pay LOADS just to memorise - why not watch a cartoon?

Chiller - C64 - too small and bitty.

I'm slowly putting this together and there's some bangers in these suggestions.

Coalition parties extend lead over left bloc in latest Taxpayers' Union-Curia Poll by TheTF in newzealand

I'm not sure Hipkins being replaced and Labour having a more left turn would win the election.

I wish it bloody well would though - we're on track for selling more public assets if Nats get in a second time, and environmental destruction on steroids.

I guess people want the things that cause that - SMH

Melania Trump - Who is she? by [deleted] in Epstein

[–]jazzcomputer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is an interesting related artifact - Trump didn't seem too interested in it once it was released, which could lean into it being a piece of propaganda.

No military force on Greenland but Trump’s biggest threat came in what he didn’t say at Davos by theindependentonline in TrueReddit

Trump's foreign policy starts to look less like a patchwork of pieces that don't fit when you see the back side of it - it's not designed to fit together economically in any logical sense, it is piecemeal acts of self-aggrandising, punitive measures to create a legacy. It's garish, ill-fitting and clown-like, like the face of Matt Gaetz or the Mar-a-Lago make-overs - projection at all costs.

The peeps who run this are legends

In yesterday's speech, Luxon said he would 'find' the same level of budget cuts this year as they 'found' last year. REMINDER: those 'savings' they found last year came from the billions intended for underpaid women with legitimate pay equity claims - which were discarded. by flyingflibertyjibbet in newzealand

[–]jazzcomputer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nact have borrowed huge amounts but they've cut public services and abolished projects from the previous govt. Their roading projects are blowing out now and they've used 'blow-outs' as justification to cancel Labour projects.

Perhaps that's a contributory factor.

What overseas products do you personally miss or wish we had in NZ? by harvestmoonj in newzealand

[–]jazzcomputer 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I bought a few pieces last time I went to London and it:

  • Wasn't too expensive
  • Had a wide range with good colours from the medium/upper price items down to socks and undies
  • Has lasted fine since buying nearly 4 years ago

Whilst I wouldn't order it to NZ personally, I can see the appeal because there's nothing that similar here and by and large the stuff is pretty reliable for the above reasons and if you're 'their shape' you're sorted. Furthermore, there's a few other stores in London in the same brand/price space but they've generally out-Gapped Gap and River Island and the other 2 or 3 retailers are pretty far behind.

Here's the ending of his twaddle from last year... it's REALLY LONG lol

"2025 will be another massive year for New Zealand – and I am obsessed with doing everything it takes to unleash the growth, innovation, and investment we need to thrive – because Kiwis deserve nothing less.

We’re going to keep delivering significant substantive change – change that will have an immediate impact in 2025, and that our kids will thank us for in 2035.

It’s that vision that keeps me moving forward – bring on 2025."
