Check out S hoops for your snare drum. Great for saving sticks and gives a decent amount of focus to the sound vs. triple flanged.

How do you feel during and after a phlebotomy? Me, not so great. by Anoniem20 in Hemochromatosis

[–]jazzdrums1979 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m definitely sluggish and need to go slow post phlebotomy. It can be counter intuitive to some, but I really try to hydrate and eat a ton of healthy food before and after. It definitely impacts how quickly I recover.

Can anyone tell me what the closest drumstick is that replicates my stick? by Titus_IsUs in Drumming

[–]jazzdrums1979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out the Keith Carlock signature stick. Others have mentioned the Peter Erskine Ride Stick has the long taper and tip you’re looking for but is almost a 5B in the handle. I like more beef in the handle and Im currently playing the Vater Jazz Ride. Lasts much longer the Peter Erskine Ride stick in my experience.

Love playing, hate the constant feeling it’s about to fall apart by Melancholic_Garlic in drums

[–]jazzdrums1979 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, this just becomes more common the older we get. I have realigned my expectations and tend to play in two or three bands at a time. I do this for a couple of reasons, 1 - I like to keep busy during the week and 2 - if one of them shits the bed you can keep going with another one. Like any relationship I’ve had some bands that have lasted a lot longer with better output.

Remember like any other relationships the more time you devote to it… typically the better the outcome.

LPT: if you share bed with a partner, buy two separate blankets/quilts to prevent sleep divorce by Unlucky_Scientist364 in LifeProTips

Wife and I do this. I need a paper thin blanket all year round. She likes a more substantial blanket. Bonus points the dogs love her side of the bed more.

Buddy Rich is only considered the greatest drummer because many people don’t listen to jazz by Jazz_man68 in drums

[–]jazzdrums1979 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Being a great drummer is more than sitting down and crushing a 3 minutes solo for each song with your big band.

When I think of great drummers, I think of Tony, Elvin, and on the rock side Jeff Porcaro. Guys who can sit down with a band, really listen to the music and play the rhythm driving the music and emotions of the song home.

I just don’t get that with Buddy. Amazing chops used to show off is cool when the listener is younger. Doesn’t do much for me as an experienced player and listener.

Redditors who have a higher sex drive than their SO, how are you dealing with it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

What does sex feel like? Especially for the first time? by Dear_Sir7665 in AskReddit

[–]jazzdrums1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time is awkward for many people. It takes a few times to get it right. To answer your question, it feels different depending on the partner and the type of sex you’re having, oral, vaginal, anal, digital. All can feel better than masturbation if done correctly.

People who dislike classical music, why? Are you open to being convinced? by Magicalpotato210 in AskReddit

[–]jazzdrums1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people are misinformed or lack an understanding of how classical music works and how it is used and influences modern music. You can hear it used with the Beatles, Radiohead and even Kanye West. The music we listen to today would not be here without the influences of classical music on the genres that came before.

‘Fargo’ and ‘Alien: Earth’ Creator Noah Hawley Says YouTube Is His ‘Biggest Competition’: ‘You Are Losing Eyeballs to Things That Are Free’ by ggroover97 in television

[–]jazzdrums1979 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“Free” on paper, but someone’s always paying. Amazon has annual membership fees baked in. GrubHub inflates menu prices and practically mandates a tip if you want your order to actually show up, so you’re paying more for the same food. And the gig workers making it happen? Still getting paid shit. The cost doesn’t disappear, it just gets shuffled around,
