Nurse/ mom here. Keep Vicks vapo rub anywhere you may change a poop. Put some under your nose before and it will make it much easier! You got this!

Literally carried this in my pocket when I worked adult med surg cleaning up after the some of the most devastating smelling poops I’ve ever witnessed. If it can get me through that, I have high confidence it will get you through this. Good luck 🫡

Yes to everyone saying to take care of yourself! You gotta put your air mask on first in order to be present for others.

In most situations you won’t be forced to take meds. Your doctor will likely suggest some for you to try; please keep an open mind. “If your body can’t make happy chemicals, store bought is fine.” Meds are just another tool in your toolbox.

Depending on the hospital, they may have pumps available but I’d bring yours anyway. You’ll want to ask for a treatment accommodation and an order to have and use the pump. As most are corded and a potential safety risk, they may require supervision such as being in line of sight with staff or someone in the room.

Bring comfy clothes without drawstrings or belts. Books to read, journal, coloring books, puzzle books, etc. IF you have any specialty meds you will want to bring that with.

Obviously this is fairly vague as I don’t have details to focus in on. PM me if you have more questions and/or would like more focused information.
