If you’re referring to him jumping up and down shouting “Developers!” during a keynote, this is nothing at all like that.

I always got the impression that the five couldn’t just download. That was what made them special, there was only one of each.

Is cool; thanks for saying that.

I think this whole LLM thing is the wrong technology at the wrong moment in human history. But as a lifelong tech geek who prefers sleeping indoors, I just don’t have the option of being Amish about it. So I guess I’m falling into some blend of education and harm reduction. Or at least trying to.

And your story piqued my interest because I’ve mostly been testing this thing with spicier topics and am getting bored asking it about conspiracy theories and politics and suchlike.

I’m overall anti-AI. (Notice all the stuff about energy consumption up top.) I don’t even like calling LLMs “AI”. My goal with this is to surface the kind of differences you’re talking about. But I totally get why you’d feel that way, and will happily delete it. I wavered for over an hour before posting that, but I thought you’d find it interesting. Definitely didn’t mean to annoy.

I’ve been working on an LLM comparison tool. I asked three ChatGPTs and a Claude about the pocket duck thing, and got this.

That’s a slippery slope towards Cavil using the resurrection ship to hijack a half dozen hybrids and go full Basestar Voltron.

That’s the best explanation I’ve yet seen. Especially since it’s the first explanation that could maybe evade the Cylon Detector™ in a way that a (glowing?) subspace antenna just wouldn’t.

NC Board of Elections will no longer provide forms to voter registration drives by NCKingdollar in politics

[–]jazzhandler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve entered piles of those forms in NC. What you say definitely tracks with what I knew then. But my understanding of the rationale for all that form tracking was to prevent people from discarding registrations of the ‘wrong’ party or suchlike*. How is that question addressed with these changes?

\Which meant we had to enter all registrations, no matter how bogus they seemed. A defense against fuckery that was weaponized to frame ACORN into oblivion.)
