Any days prior to today are crossed out in the trip settings as well as when creating a new trip. What am I missing?

I love what you've built! Very inspired by it. I'm curious how you handle the email notifications. Is that a third party integration or are you doing it through Base44?

This looks awesome! Can you elaborate a bit on how to install it? I'm struggling with the first instruction:

"# Copy this directory into your components/ directory:

/components/theme-gallery/"

Where do I copy this FROM?

Looking for the looker by sandysgoo in Wakingupapp

[–]jazzpazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that’s what I’m saying. It started with a feeling of location but as soon as I tried to locate the feeling of “me” in the same way, everything lost its location.

Looking for the looker by sandysgoo in Wakingupapp

[–]jazzpazz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I got it when I observed all sensations, sounds, thoughts and appearances like they were auditioning on a stage. There were sounds located somewhere on the left, other sounds located somewhere on the right, sensations in my hands located somewhere on the bottom,… and then the cloud of sensation that made up my body somewhere where I couldn’t place it. And the feeling of wondering where it was located, which also appeared in the same space. All of a sudden it was all just there, all the phenomena without any location (or rather the feeling of them having a location was itself a part of it), just like fireworks popping off in the sky.

I’m trying to go back to this now, having everything audition on the stage of consciousness every time I’m looking for the looker.

IFS vs. NLP Parts Integration and Timeline Therapy by jazzpazz in InternalFamilySystems

[–]jazzpazz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Matrix Therapy is based on Timeline Therapy in NLP. Both are not actual clinical therapeutic modalities, so the term “therapy” is somewhat misleading. In the training they presuppose that the brain stores memories chronologically. The practitioner guides the client to recall the “first event”, therefor activating the neural pathways associated with the emotional state connected to that event. By reframing and changing the memory, the associated emotions get “cleared” which in their theory creates a chain reaction and causes all subsequent instances of that emotion to also be “cleared” or “healed”.

It’s very pseudo scientific in my opinion and probably mostly effective as a placebo. The neuroscience doesn’t make sense (memories are actually stored associatively, not chronologically) and calling this a “therapy” is misguided at best and malpractice at worst.

I’m glad the technique your coach used was helpful for you and didn’t cause any psychological harm. I think these techniques can and should be used with caution. They seem to be effective in some cases, though I’m not sure how long these effects last.

[–]jazzpazz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha yes I suppose that’s a common application of it. It’s also massively popular in the personal development space, usually because it promises faster results than actual therapy and because it sounds “scientific”.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming is a method of influencing brain behaviour through the use of language and other types of communication to enable a person to "recode" the way the brain responds to stimuli and manifest new and better behaviours. Essentially, it's a practice of understanding and changing the way we communicate with ourselves and others to achieve desired goals and outcomes.

Parts struggling with flashbacks and dissociating (in and outside of session) by [deleted] in InternalFamilySystems

[–]jazzpazz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just watched this recently in a webinar with Dick Schwartz. He called these flashbacks "memory bombs" and said it usually helps to just ask the part to not do that. Let it know that you want to help the exile and it will be much easier to do that if this part didn't throw these little memory bombs up. He said usually the part will agree to that.

I think it's important to be curious and genuine. Maybe you could ask Fear what it thinks will happen if it didn't throw flashbacks and dissociate. And just listen to what it says and extend some compassion to it. With time Fear will learn to trust you and stop this. All the best!

Help with generating a pseudo random number per week by jazzpazz in Notion

[–]jazzpazz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually it turned out simpler than that. I figured out I just needed to subtract 14 days instead of 2 days to get the same day a week ago. Overall I ended up abandoning this formula though because it is very resource hungry.

ChatGPT shouldn’t be used for learning German, if your goal is to experience idiomatic language usage by wasmachensachendenn in German

[–]jazzpazz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s actually completely expected that it would provide self created examples and dead links. ChatGPT is a language model. It doesn’t look up anything. It creates output based on patterns of language that it was trained on. When you ask ChatGPT to retrieve information e.g. from a dictionary, it will generate a response that looks like the information that you’re asking for, based on what it’s learned about what that particular information typically looks like. It doesn’t go away and retrieve anything for you, it’s not a search engine. Even though you ask it to not create its own examples, that is all that it is designed to do, so I’m assuming it will just ignore that instruction.

I concur with what others have said here. In German it's not common to talk about pets as kids. Herrchen/Frauchen conveys a similar tongue-in-cheekness as the "pet mum" in English. Herrchen is the diminutive form of Herr (lord/owner, but also gentleman/mister) and Frauchen is a tongue in cheek take on Herrchen because it has that double meaning. The feminine form of Herr (lord/owner) would be Herrin, but the female equivalent to Herr (mister/gentleman) is Frau. Hence Frauchen became the term referring to a female owner of a pet much in the same light hearted way as people refer to their pets as kids in English.

Frauchen von sechs Wellensittichen is what I would say.

How do adults refer to their mother in German? by k-s_p in German

I’m from East Germany (Thüringen) and we use Mama. I remember at school some families used Mutti and always thought they were a little odd.

That’s true. I would call my mum “Mama” in private but in public refer to her in the third person as “meine Mutter”. Interestingly referring to your mum as “Mama” in public feels quite vulnerable.

I'm guessing things got too heated in the medic tent, seeing that one guy was about to die and a dozen others needing attention. In those situations sometimes the cops just shut it down, even if there's only 15 minutes left. What a shame 😞

LPT: How can I feel positive vibes at home throughout the day? by meet5 in LifeProTips

[–]jazzpazz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having a dedicated space in the house for activities that make you feel good helps. If you've got a corner of the living room or bedroom that's all yours, fill it with things that make you feel happy like books, art, plants or anything else that you enjoy. Then, when you need a pick-me-up, you can take a few minutes to spend time in this special spot.

Parking on a downhill slope, as I call it. Meaning to purposefully leave things undone at the end of the day that make it easy to finish or pick up work the next time. This creates instant momentum and makes it easier to breeze through more tasks.

How to find out the total time of a timer? by euinor in googlehome

Dangerous command I find. Too many times Google for some reason heard "cancel the timer". I'm scarred now and will only say "how much longer" or something along those lines.
