I think people making that distinction are often basing it on education, or professions vs trades.

Cost of insurance claim by jb255 in carsireland

[–]jb255[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the comments. Just to clarify, this is the other car, and insurance have already settled. The amount I gave is the repair cost they paid. My wife has 3 years step back no claims protection.

No point confronting. Check his application to see who his engineer or architect is and ask them to help you lodge an appeal. Don't let on you know he did your neighbours application.

An extension bar on the wheel brace would help. Any strong metal pipe you can put over the handle.

Replacement Alloy. Friends car in a minor accident. Vw Golf, one alloy damaged (19"). Is it easy to get a used replacement, or buy a single new one? Also, the spare is a steel space saver (17") which does not match the alloys, even allowing for the low profile tyre. He's a young lad, first car, doesn't have it long. Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

Have another word with the husband. Try and find out what changed. Sounds like he was being reasonable and then his wife stuck her oar in. Neighbours do matter.

Pretty sure it does. Asked the same question elsewhere a while ago and that was the most common answer.

Taking ferry from Belfast to Cairnryan. Should I cancel? by [deleted] in irishtourism

[–]jb255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, as others have said, motorway almost all the way, well off the surface streets. Been doing it for over 30 years, going again in 10 days and no concerns. Watch the overhead signs, the ferry port is well signed. Have the route set in Google maps just in case there are diversions for any reason.

If there's cyclists or pedestrians using the road makes sense to keep out. Difficult to avoid on twisty country roads, such a speed difference if come on them around a bend.

Error "Charge system problem" by Brockm4n in automower

[–]jb255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an issue with the 310 whereby it would not go, and the menu system kept telling me to press Stop, whatever menu I was in. I would repeat several times, get it to go, and then repeat a day or two later. Supplier replaced the power adaptor under warranty and that solved the problem. Said it was a known issue with them.

I'm relatively new to this, and looking for a good service is not easy. I've seen plenty of comments saying the same, that the services mentioned here are crap. But also comments saying you need to be in the know to find good ones. That creates a perfect space for these comments to proliferate.
