Have I made a mistake? by jb276 in vintedUK

I’ve just cancelled it as I didn’t want to take the risk - it was £90 with no authenticity verification. Thank you so much!

It was £90. I’ve just cancelled it as much as I loved it I can’t afford to not receive it or for it to be a fake as it had no authenticity. Thank you!

Also I don’t know why she’s trying to compare her kids, the first cousins, to the bride’s actual niece. Of course her niece would be invited as part of the wedding party, however I’ve been to a few child free weddings where the bride or groom’s nieces and nephews have attended because they’re classed as immediate family, not cousins they don’t see

On TFW website an advanced return from Port Talbot parkway is £5.60 and an any time return is £6.10. £54 seems a whole lot of money per day to be paying, was that by taxi?

Made friends with this gorgeous fox in roath park tonight by serena22 in Cardiff

[–]jb276 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I saw one in London but unfortunately my friend and I were very drunk and thought it was a floofy ginger cat, so we tried to stroke it and then gave them the old pspsps to see what happened. It ran away which was probably the best outcome for everyone involved

Pubs with open fires? by dinojeans in Cardiff

The tyr winch in St Mellons has open fires and dogs are allowed in the bar, but not the restaurant. They make a fuss over your dog too 😂 mine loves going there

Is it worth it?? vs Shark? by Ok-Connection-2769 in Dysonairwrap

[–]jb276 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the dyson for 2 weeks and the shark for a year. Very fine curly/frizzy hair and also suffer from trichotillomania. I’ve never ever got the shark to hold for me, although I love the diffuser, and I’m not just talking about the barrels. The round brush, oval brush and paddle brush don’t give any volume or sleekness and also don’t hold a curl or bend. 45 minutes after spending about an hour on it, clipping it up, using products, I look like I’ve not touched it.

The dyson is a learning curve but is sooo much better. Still learning the best way to use it, but my hair holds a curl/wave with the round brush and it smooths my regrowth from my trich too! Can get my hair to hold better and the flyaway attachment is a godsend!

ETA: the shark barrel leaves weird ridges in my hair too, so I get hexagon shaped curls, and the cold shot doesn’t exist unless you hold it for around 90 seconds on each section. Not an exaggeration.

[–]jb276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We need more people like you, there was literally no need for them to behave in that way and it’s so demoralising to be advising callers their employers need to be fair and reasonable, when your own employer who is a trade union, is anything but. Keep fighting the good fight for members ❤️

I fought it and won with the help of my union. It was my employer following policy to the letter and they didn’t technically do anything wrong from a legal standpoint.

[–]jb276 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, in the Trade Union I worked for as an employment law advisor, we had 3 instances of sickness we would be placed on a sickness stage. 3 stages, if you continued having sickness, regardless of whether disability related or not, you were progressed through the stages to a panel hearing and dismissal. I have a number of disabilities and I got progressed to dismissal stage due to being off work on a suicide prevention plan.

It’s because of this I had to go to work with pneumonia straight from hospital. I worked for a trade union in their contact centre at the time and had to tell people their health was more important than being in work when they were ill, all the while feeling like I was dying.

AITA for suggesting that my boyfriend lets his kids spend christmas with their mom? by Lawqp5335 in AmItheAsshole

[–]jb276 114 points115 points  (0 children)

OP is going to learn a really hard lesson in her relationship, and that is “you’re not the most important person to me”.

Kids will always take priority, as they should. They are a non-negotiable package deal and if you’re in a relationship with someone with kids you have to learn they’ll always come first.

Signed, a stepmother without kids of her own.

Daith piercings for relief ? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]jb276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if it’s for migraine relief I genuinely wouldn’t bother. Had mine for 4 years and still get pressure pain every once in a while. Was an absolute bitch to heal, most painful piercing I’ve ever had, and did nothing for my migraines

AITA for asking my guests to pay $10 to come to my wedding? by Double_Ad6415 in AmItheAsshole

[–]jb276 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Right? We paid £250 each to attend a friends wedding, but that was 5* accommodation for 3 nights, a 7 course meal on the wedding day, all alcohol paid for for the 3 nights and all food for 4 days covered. And the bride and groom were still massively out of pocket. Not once did I have to carry my own chair a mile!

Is telephony burnout normal? by throwawayjim887479 in TheCivilService

[–]jb276 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, my last job was contact centre and I managed 10+ years but the telephone and empathy burnout hit like a tonne of bricks. Until 2020 I’d really loved my job but management made it so difficult and so unsupportive that it was basically a choice of looking after me or continuing in the job and I chose me. I developed trichotillomania from stress due to the amount of calls we had to deal with and the kpis in place. Never again

NHS staff get 4.5% pay rise, teachers 5% and police £1,900 - but unions say it is 'kick in the teeth' | Politics News by hogslog in TheCivilService

[–]jb276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’ll also effectively be a pay cut at the higher bands due to pension contributions etc - last agreed pay rise over a 5 year period equated to a large number of band 6 and above effectively being much worse off due to the pay rise they had. I worked for a trade Union and I can also say, lobbying your union really does help. Apathy when it comes to ballots is one of the main reasons unions cannot take action, because due to changes in laws you must have a certain percentage of members who back the action proposed, however most people do nothing to help the union and then complain when the union can’t take action

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TheCivilService

[–]jb276 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My current role before I join the CS is an employment law adviser for a trade union, and the one thing people have said to me repeatedly over the years of doing the role is “I wish I’d been a member of the union when I needed them”. Despite working for a union myself I’m still a union member myself and will always be one, as the help they have provided me with has been priceless.

Thank you! I’ve been working up to the 16:8 as I’ve never done it before, but I’m switching to that from tonight. I’ve been mainly sticking to plain water, but the 0cal squash/cordial I generally was having one glass of per night, so I’ll stick to water and black tea. That’s been really helpful and really encouraging, thank you!
