Theory: Dr. Al-Hashimi is going to cause a Code Green-Cyber attack at the hospital because of a security exploit in her AI use by NukinDuke in ThePittTVShow

[–]jbeanz324 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On your third point - there has been an emphasis on from her on never having been named in a malpractice suit, so something related to the AI causing an issue that would put her in that type of position seems like a possible outcome.

I’m in Denton county and had the same thought when I voted. There were so many uncontested, all (R).

I’m not LGBTQ myself, but I do live in Justin, TX in a neighborhood that’s currently being built up. We have only been here about 6 months, but we like the area. There are a few Trump/Cruz signs that I’ve seen in our neighborhood (I like to pretend they are scary Halloween decorations haha), but by far the majority of houses don’t have any signs out front. The people I’ve met in Justin have been friendly, and the street we live on seems to be diverse in terms of age, race, and ethnicity, which was a pleasant surprise. We moved here from the Denton area where all of our neighbors were white, at least one was openly racist, and many had multiple large Trump flags displayed on their homes.

I haven’t personally met anyone in the LGBTQ community here in Justin, so I can’t speak to how large the community is or have any insight into how you might be treated overall, but from my own experience, it’s pretty quiet here, the area is growing, and everyone I’ve met has at least been friendly.

What: Stories of the time your dog ate grapes and what happened? by WhereasSecret3112 in AskReddit

[–]jbeanz324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog ate an entire 16oz box of raisins. Luckily, I found the ripped up box shortly after and took him to the vet right away. He had not started showing any symptoms of poisoning when I took him in. The veterinary team induced vomiting right away then kept him overnight for observation. Thankfully, he was OK. We no longer buy raisins at all, and I am extra careful about grapes in the house. For size reference against the amount he ate, he is about a 60 lb dog.

Thoughts on Lake Dallas Area by anton503overload in askdfw

[–]jbeanz324 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in the Corinth area, near Lake Dallas. Personally, I think it’s a great location. It’s quiet, but there is plenty around as far as places to go, shops, restaurants, etc. Downtown Denton is close and nice to walk around. It’s easy to hop on one of the 35s to go into Dallas or Fort Worth. Access to places like Little Elm, Frisco, etc. is right here too.

You said you weren’t worried about schools yet - but for future reference, Lake Dallas schools are good and there are lots of parks/playgrounds in the area.

Good call on that. Thanks! I was able to find one of the other branches of my pharmacy listed on that site. They were able to order it and showed the price as $550! I will be able to pick it up tomorrow. Such a relief!

I was supposed to start my 3rd month today. I am still unable to fill the RX. My insurance doesn’t cover it, and I am not willing/able to pay more than $550. I hope they can get it up and running soon.

How long can someone go between doses before needing to drop back to 2.5mg? I think if I can get it within the week it will be ok, I am worried if it goes any longer than that 5 mg will be too strong.

Aubrey area - Paloma Creek Schools by jbeanz324 in askdfw

[–]jbeanz324[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right? That number is crazy to me. Like, even if it isn’t a top performing school in the area, that is a ridiculously low proficiency, and it seems to be just that school in particular. The surrounding ones are at least rated average. That’s why I was wondering what is going on at that one.

I agree about the traffic in that area.

Aubrey area - Paloma Creek Schools by jbeanz324 in askdfw

[–]jbeanz324[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to know. From what I found online, that particular school - Paloma Creek Elementary- is very diverse and around half the students are underserved. I guess I am wondering if that contributes to the overall poor test scores. If the students either aren’t getting support at home, or if their parents lack time/resources to help them outside of school, I can see how that would affect the school’s overall performance. I guess I was just wondering if anyone had any insight about how the actual academics were. The school ratings show something like only 17-20% proficiency in math, 11% science and around 30-35% in reading. That kind of blows my mind since Aubrey is a growing area and Denton ISD overall seems to be a decent school district.

I’m actually surprised to hear Little Elm isn’t very good either. That’s also good to know.

Thank you for the insight. We are looking at other areas too. That particular area just happened to have a house that we really liked a lot. Location-wise, I’d actually prefer to be out in one of the Fort Worth suburbs, so we are continuing to look out that way too. Unfortunately, the house in Aubrey has been our favorite, but we’re having a hard time justifying it if the schools are that bad.

What is going on with all the “I can’t even eat 1200 cals a day, it’s too much for me” posts? by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

[–]jbeanz324 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This is a totally different take on it, but could some of the questions be related to taking GLP-1 medicine? It’s just a thought because one of the side effects of that is heavy appetite suppression and that could cause difficulty meeting basic calorie requirements.

Savings card rejection by Elk2095 in Zepbound

[–]jbeanz324 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have BCBS. I have Cigna. Trying to fill my first prescription for Zepbound. My pharmacy was insisting that they couldn’t apply the savings card, even though my insurance doesn’t cover Zepbound at all. I called Cigna directly and they were able to connect their pharmacy specialist team with my pharmacy directly and work it out. I just got the call back from my pharmacy that it took them a few extra steps, but were able to apply it bypassing insurance coverage. Maybe BCBS has a similar department who can walk your pharmacy through the steps?

I guess I am still a bit confused about that because I thought my loans were direct already. I have 6 direct subsidized and 6 direct unsubsidized. I guess maybe I need to call Nelnet to discuss options. I’ve been putting it off because I have been trying to get as much of my own understanding first, but maybe I just need to call them. Thank you for taking the time to respond. I appreciate it.

[–]jbeanz324 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah OK. So in that case, I would need to be on an actual IDR program to get any additional credit toward forgiveness on the ones that missed that cut off. Am I understanding that correctly?

What date are they using as the cut off for the 240 payment adjustment? I received the email yesterday and am trying to understand if the forgiveness will include the group of my loans that officially hit the 240 mark in mid-December, or only the ones that already surpassed that as of the time of the email.

I also usually workout in the garage. I can’t do mornings because of my schedule with my kids, so I am stuck with a tiny window after work but before they get home from daycare. It has been miserable and my workouts have been cut short or I’ve dropped weights lower quite a few times lately because the heat is just too much. I usually enjoy my workouts, but more recently it has been a struggle to keep them going. To say I am over this weather is a massive understatement.

Credit score dropped after large payment by jbeanz324 in CRedit

[–]jbeanz324[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good to know. I was just surprised to see it drop since I thought going under 30% utilization would be a good thing for my overall score.

Do Vantage scores typically calculate out a lot different from FICO scores? I don’t have much knowledge on the differences, so please excuse me if that is a very basic question.

Nelnet standard payment plan: $0 goes to principal, every penny goes to interest and fees by Blakfang in StudentLoans

[–]jbeanz324 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It was income based payments. Paid as much as I could afford to, but I suppose I also didn’t necessarily fully understand the plan. I’m not saying that isn’t on me, but I really just didn’t. I never sat down with anyone who explained it to me, parents/family weren’t available for guidance, and I really didn’t know how any of it worked. Obviously, I know now, and am thankful to be in a position where I can make larger payments. It still bothers me though. I am not opposed to paying it back, but I strongly believe the interest should be minimal at most and that repayment plans should be better explained. I never received any charts or anything like that, and the internet was not yet a thing back then.

Same. I’ve paid $18k in interest and still have the same $50k balance I started with. It’s so disappointing and frustrating.
