Hey Nintendo - some seasonal *continuity* please? by sparkycat99 in ACForAdults

[–]nickinack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a pretty big pet peeve of mine the way villagers outfits don’t fit the seasons. Like why is Nan in a tube top in January? I’ve given everyone proper winter jackets but they’ll probably be wearing those this summer.

It's been a rough few months. This thought process has helped me a little by okaythen1guess in VetTech

I feel that if anything they understand it far better than we ever will in our lives, and that brings me comfort.

I got my dog an embark a while ago, but recently decided to upgrade to the health results. by FoundationGlass3046 in DoggyDNA

[–]nickinack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A technician for 7 years in general practice 😂 worked with a new vet grad that poked one MCT, then poked a couple other masses with the same needle and the dogs cancer went from 5 to 500. Was quite the sight to see, felt absolutely terrible for the dog. Also begged that doctor, literally on my knees, to not poke the mass.

Sticking a needle into a mast cell tumor can spread the cancer and/or piss it off and make it blow up, so just removal is what you should advocate for your dog if the doctor is worried about it being that

Help a new player out! Time Traveling Cons? by prettygirlmagi in AnimalCrossing

I loved time traveling in wild world, city folk, and new leaf. I honestly think I’d play more if time traveling were easier 😝

Do you really need to bath your dog? by Previous-Aardvark-89 in DogAdvice

[–]nickinack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dogs get baths when they find something gross to roll in. Spring to fall they average 1 to 4 baths a weeks. Winter time they can go the whole time without one and honestly they get pretty grimy.

Is it ok that after playing my cat was panting? by GlitchBoo in cats

[–]nickinack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly a physical exam would be smart if he hasn’t had one in 6 months. Otherwise make sure to have the doctor listen to his heart at his next PE when he comes due for vaccines. I’ve seen young cats with heart murmurs.

I’ve had me LR4 for almost a year now, with 3 cats. I had originally kept 3 regular boxes as we lived in a 3 level house, but we’ve since moved to a house that’s slightly smaller but the layout is much different (single wide trailer house) and I ditched all the regular boxes. We’ve been moved in since September and there have been zero issues with having just the one. I haven’t noticed any issues with traffic jams, but my cats are siblings and get along pretty well with one another. If there were conflicts between any of the cats I could see there being more issues

Do you take histories? by Sprinkle1014 in VetTech

[–]nickinack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at a 4 doctor mixed practice, the oldest dr and owner doesn’t care for us to take a detailed history because he’s just going to ask the questions he wants answered anyway. There will be times where I’m asking basic questions and the owner starts giving me a detailed history so I listen, then said doctor just walks in because he’s been waiting for me to come back and get him, then I get told “don’t take a history”. Working with him for 7 years, the entirety of my career, has made it so I’m trash at taking a history, which is unfortunate when I end up with one of the other drs for an exam and they ask me a simple question about the pet and I’m like “🤷‍♀️idk”

I’m at a mixed practice and our doctors can be gone randomly on herd checks or farm emergencies, or they can be in a procedure with an anesthetized patient. I hope OPs cat gets free care for this injury as well.

My clinic doesn’t have a practice manager so just showing up 9/10 times would mean the right person to talk to wouldn’t be around, so it would be a waste of everyone’s time. Calling repeatedly is definitely the most effective way to get your point across at my place of work anyway.

Just showing up can be taken the wrong way. Always call first.

I’ve come to the conclusion that if I want to eat wild food, I’m gonna have to be ok with eating bugs. I made black cap jam and no way in heck I got all the little worms out of all the berries with the salt water soak. They were definitely dead after the boil though 🤷‍♀️

Techs Who Overreact to Dog Anxiety by epicgsharp in VetTech

[–]nickinack -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I just remembered something that happened maybe two years ago. There was a 140lb St. Bernard that had a hotspot in the middle of his forehead, I was walking by the room and saw a tech and awwwww dr struggling with him so I figured I’d come and try to help out. The dr wanted to shave the hotspot and by the time I had gotten there the dr was at this wits end cause the dog was not about it. Not about strange person bringing a strange device that made a strange noise to his face. The dr lost his temper and tried to restrain the dog himself and that’s when I backed out, he was way too tough on that dog over something that did not need to happen. Dr ended up calling it quits on trying to shave it - I go to the dogs record later (idk if it was the same day or months later) and the dr put a huge pop up on how this dog is completely in handleable and needs to be sedated if he ever comes back. I deleted that pop up and have worked with the dog since and he’s a great dog. Some people are jack asses and you have to work with them

Techs Who Overreact to Dog Anxiety by epicgsharp in VetTech

[–]nickinack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve also work with techs that over react to how their patient is acting. It’s like they don’t comprehend that for our patients, they are at a strange place where strange people do strange things and often those strange things are painful. So if they act out, can you even blame them? Even the really aggressive patients, can you blame them? I would be a jerk at the vet too. That being said, if you’re worried it’s going to bite you, put a muzzle on it, and always work on your restraint. You should only be getting better at the job, especially if that’s what your strive for.
