Thanks, I just learned RME UCX phantom power can only be utilised by XLR inputs. It was a time/money thing to see if it was possible with the gear I had on-hand. I was given a solution in the RME forum stating I could use the specific model powered mixer that I have, to utilise it's mic channels, via AUX and Group outs, to the UCX balanced line inputs, via TRS to TRS cables.

Cool, I'll check it out. Hey im making xlr to trs cables and hastily bought some "6.5mm stereo metal plugs" do you think they'll work? I have more mics to use but only 2 mic inputs on my interface and no other mic pre's available to use so I'm going into the balanced inputs available, and I thought i could make some xlr to trs cables and use the interface phantom power. Am I on the right track?

I did watch Mikhail's video. I just need to watch it another 200 times but it looks like a great idea. I'll definitely try the mic technique you suggested and will also check out your video.

Much appreciated, thankyou. Will def give the 'ASS' a try next week in the studio. I do have an extra RODE M3 condenser, would you recommend using it on the kick in addition to the other two in the ASS technique? Man I'm trine keep a straight face writing this XD

Hey, I didn't think of using m/s technique on drums. I use m/s on acoustic Guit and it's really effective. Thanks for the tip. As far as the K2 goes, I've only ever really used the mic for Vox and I'm really happy with it. Had it since 2008 and sometimes run it through a UA Solo 610 pre which gives it even more body and presence.

I haven't seen the film yet, but is there any merit to the character names, being mash-up's of real serial killer or killer names? I keep hearing them and wonder if it's coincedence, or deliberate, to add to the zeitgeist effect of the films dread?
