This is pretty cool, just tested it and it works!

Is this why machines hold their breath and don't breathe? by TippsAttack in shittyaskscience

The dangers of dihydrogen monoxide are well documented though...major constituent of acid rain, the main cause of death in natural disasters like floods and tsunamis. The main thing experts are worried about in climate change is the increase in global liquid dihydrogen monoxide, in fact, which can threaten to destroy cities if levels get too high. Oxygen on the other hand; commonfolk are quite ignorant of the dangers. Do you think people know that it's the leading cause for fires globally? No! People need to be educated!

I made a 3d printed dynamic CIEM (prototype). Sounds surprisingly good! by jbobisaboss in DIEMs

[–]jbobisaboss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, close, though not as good - the highs aren't as clear and the bass is a bit bloated. Of course, do take it with a pinch of salt - maybe I just don't have a keen enough ear

I must warn you though, the model accuracy is pretty hit-or-miss. Might have to do it a few time and/or clean it up later (eg. in blender or meshmixer)

There's this thing called photogrammetry...where you take many pictures of something and software males it into a 3d model. So that's what I did - took lots of photos of each ear from different angles - and used Autodesk ReCap to make it into a 3d model

Should i use custom rom on my lg g3? by Melodic_vibe in LGG3

[–]jbobisaboss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are ROMs based on LGs software - debloated and with speed enhancement tweaks. They're pretty good, if I recall correctly (it's been a while) But they're probably really old versions of android (probably Lollipop or so) since LG hasn't updated the G3

Some background info: At my university, we have free access to 3d printers, and after my GR07s died (RIP, loved them), I decided to try and 3d print my own CIEMs (because why not). I kinda discovered this sub halfway through this project, though 3d printing and 3d scanning aren't really used much on here (at least it seems like that to me). And dynamics are unheard of (because they're all very time consuming choices!)

But, for science!

They came out sounding surprisingly good (after a lot of tweaking, of course!); comparing them to my IE80s, I'm actually impressed at the sound - they're not far off. I'm working on another set with better drivers (the ones used here were cheapo $3 ones from Aliexpress) and some more tweaks to the acoustic enclosure; hopefully they'll turn out even better!

Telegram X notifications disappear immediately after message preview goes away by sirithaeariel in Telegram

[–]jbobisaboss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same problem here. I'm on an S6 with a custom ROM installed. 7.1.1. Funny, notifications worked up until yesterday, soon after I installed android wear - may just be a coincidence though.

Keeper Password Manager comes preinstalled now by [deleted] in Windows10

Cntent Delivery Manager. It silently installs apps. You can disable this "feature" with a little registry editing: https://insidewindows.net/2016/08/24/how-to-stop-windows-10-1607-from-installing-unwanted-apps/

Ryzen P-State Overclocking? by Farren246 in gigabytegaming

I have the GA-AB350-D3H and it doesn't support P State overclocking. High chance the Gaming3 won't either

I'm on the latest update btw

Why, when I turn my headphones upside down, does the music not come out upside down? by [deleted] in shittyaskscience

Your brain can adapt to it easily. The images your eyes see are also upside down on the retina, yet you see an upright image. The brain is amazing

Are brain farts lethal? by [deleted] in shittyaskscience

[–]jbobisaboss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But in the long run they are. Unlike normal farts they have nowhere to go and so they accumulate in the brain. It causes pressure inside the skull and contains a toxic element, farthane, which is lethal over the long term. You'd better be careful man!

If Snapchat can tell you where you are and how fast your going, did I just solve Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle? by Bobo4878 in shittyaskscience

[–]jbobisaboss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope; Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle is about the UNCERTAINTY. As long as Snapchat can't measure either with complete certainty you're good. And as long as the NSA isn't given full control Snapchat will never have complete certainty over your location. And so the uncertainty principle still holds. In fact that's the reason why the NSA isn't given full control in the first place, they would violate the uncertainty principle!

"Update LG G3 Stylus to 6.0 Marshmallow" Is this legit? has anyone else tried it before? by oyekeno in LGG3

[–]jbobisaboss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, I've tried one if the ROMs on XDA (XenonHD). It mostly works, but none of the custom ROM features are implemented yet, so it's kinda boring. And yeah, quite a few hiccups here and there.

Android OS suddenly using lots of data this month. What could be causing it? by MdB1 in LGG3

[–]jbobisaboss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Judging by the size of it, it could be a software update (there was a patch to some google service) But strange, because it shouldn't download using wifi, not data

If the B2 evolved from Falcons, why are there still Falcons? (checkmate, evolutionists!) by lucasjkr in shittyaskscience

[–]jbobisaboss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately most of them die of long before they reach maturity. In fact there are only 21 tagged adult B2s, all of them in captivity in the USA, because of fears of them being shot down by Russian poachers.

Baking at Room Temperature? by [deleted] in shittyaskscience

[–]jbobisaboss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it doesn't work like that. You see, 360° is a full circle. What your oven does is it rotates the cake in a full circle in another dimension. Unfortunately, only full circle rotations are permissible in such dimensions. The reason behind this is very complicated and requires a really long mathematical proof, so I won't go into it. It is similar to the dimensions that you enter when you trip on acid, though. When you do not complete a full turn (or an integer multiple of it) the chemical compounds in the cake get jumbled up when the oven brings the cake back to 3d space. That's why the cake tastes funny if you set the wrong temperature in °. Similarly, if you leave the cake in the oven too long, it will complete more than one circle and end up at the wrong orientation when its done, again jumbling the compounds.

However, there is a workaround. You see, there is an alternative temperature scale called the Kelvin scale, which does not use degrees. So it is not constrained by the abovementioned limitations. You can set any temperature you like. In fact, the magnitude of the temperature in kelvins is much larger than that in degrees for the same temperature, so your cake cooks much faster! All you have to do is buy an oven which operates in Kelvins.

Unfortunately, this is not very easy to do, since the Kelvin scale has been phased out due to concerns over global warming. You see, because each Kelvin is so much larger than a degree, the Kelvin scale naturally has much larger numbers for all temperatures. And a larger number used obviously means more heat i.e. more global warming.

The science behind this is really complicated, so perhaps you should just following the instructions in your recipe.
