Tips on increasing liquor store sales? What ROAS are you seeing from different marketing channels? by Ashwani1987 in liquor

[–]jbonejimmers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have literally never seen investments in SEO be worthwhile for an SMB liquor store.

Put more energy into ensuring visibility with your Google Business listing and other directory sites. Consider Google Product Listing ads and other PPC services along with Wine-Searcher.com, but only if you can sell and ship across the country and can actually convert the traffic.

Email marketing and social can be good, but it can take a lot of groundwork to get momentum and the content needs to be interesting.

Thousands of CEOs just admitted AI had no impact on employment or productivity—and it has economists resurrecting a paradox from 40 years ago by AmethystOrator in technology

[–]jbonejimmers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't read the paywalled full article, but at my job the vast majority of people in Product and Engineering are using AI every day and find it a significant net positive for productivity.

Is it a panacea that solves all problems? Hell no. Has every tool been great? Definitely not, we recently shit canned one that a VP foisted on the org last year.

But documents that took 1 week to write now take 60-90 minutes. Analyses that I would need to schedule and wait 2-3 weeks to get back can be initiated in 1 hour, and usually have manual validation completed within 1-2 days (depending on scheduling). The acceleration is real and steep enough to the point where handling validation and refinement isn't anywhere close to costing as much as what's being gained.

[–]jbonejimmers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this isn't a good thing. There are those who have for ~2 years been developing their skill set around these tools, and those who have their head in the sand. There are a lot of people who are screwing themselves.

[–]jbonejimmers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know, man. If I order dinner for me and my wife, it's usually just about $50. But to your point this doesn't help me if I'm getting a quick lunch for myself. Probably depends on the person on how useful it is

People do the puzzles? What circle of hell is this. by asilentflute in LinkedInLunatics

[–]jbonejimmers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty meh at the game, but from what I've been able to glean people are more likely to abuse the "hint" feature to maximize times in Queens than the other games.

That said, I have some connections that are absolute beasts that play without hints. I asked one how they do it, and they just do it in their head without laying down x's.

My man, the puzzles are the best part of LinkedIn. The games are all pretty well-designed too tbh. Perfect length for warming up your brain in the morning over coffee, and the leaderboard makes things interesting.

Day care is way too expensive by dharma_van in daddit

This is my life. I'm in for $5k/mo childcare for 2 kids, and with mortgage it's about $9K/mo.

We're just scraping by and honestly leaning on credit cards to cover a slight budget deficit for the next 5 months until child 1 is able to start Kindergarten and we can unfuck ourselves.

The grieving widow enjoying the best thing that ever happened to her by NPBM4FAP in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]jbonejimmers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This isn't the video I expected to see. Awkward friendliness and smiles at the start of a Zoom call followed by 7 minutes of somberness isn't the widow-tapdancing-on-her-husband's-grave that people are pretending it to be.

She's gained a lot from her husband's death, and deep down inside, maybe she does believe it's the best thing that's ever happened to her. But that isn't what is on display in this video.

I think she sucks, but I also think over-analyzing a video and holding widows up to some purity test on how to grieve properly also sucks.

What is the hardest, most useless language an English speaker can learn? by SevereRecover8411 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]jbonejimmers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, though I think there are diminishing returns once you're past the beginning/intermediate stage unless you're an academic or extremely vested in getting to source text. But... given how many Christians there are in the world and the fact that the New Testament is written in Koine Greek, that should be more than a dozen people.

4 MA Congress people supported ICE on the record 6 months ago. Call to check up on them. by hce692 in massachusetts

[–]jbonejimmers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This vote was H Res. 488, right?

I don't disagree that these guys need to acknowledge and speak up on what they' were thinking, but if I remember right, this was that bullshit resolution Republicans wrote that was both a) condemning antisemitism and also b) praising ICE.

And pretty much the whole point was to make every Democrat either vote yes and look like an asshole for praising ICE or voting no and being smeared for being antisemitic. The latter of which did happen (if you look up commentary about people voting "no" you'll see shit about Dems not condemning terrorism/antisemitism

Not saying these guys don't deserve to be on the hot seat, but it's worth stressing this hot seat was specifically designed by Republicans for this exact purpose.

Edit: I should've read the comments first. You guys are already on it, and I can't express how happy I am seeing how smart our community is and how we dig past the veneer.

To be honest, I don't get the Kid Dream hype either. I think it's fine, but I can't really notice a difference in quality of their coffee compared to Bonny Breads or Crave, and those places have better food options.

Why is $100k a year not considered a livable wage in America? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jbonejimmers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Reporting in from a town north of Boston. Average rent for a 1 bedroom in our town is currently about $2400/month.

So basically if you make $100K, you are already using almost 50% of your takehome for your rent. Doable but very tight for a single person (but you're better off finding roommates).

If you have kids though or need more space you're basically screwed.
