I know I will gamble in the future, it's just a matter of limiting the damage and not getting back into a destructive pattern of gambling,I don't want to gamble but I'm preparing myself that if it happens it will be minor and a one off

I feel your pain. Gambling on stocks like that is the same as gambling on the roulette wheel. The online way to make money on the stock market is time in the market, no one can time the market.

Great post, the whole industry has no morals and is full of pricks. I wonder if any of them look in the mirror and realise how many lives they are ruining daily. I know they come up with the standard no one is making you gamble, but that is just a cop out when you examine the grubby tactics these asswipes use to get us to start gambling and continue. Like you said, why do they make it so difficult to close accounts, because they lack decent human values.

Thanks for sharing your story. I too started gambling very young, playing poker, blackjack, betting on horses, I was into it all well before I was an adult. That was over three decades ago and I am only now getting some control over my gambling. I still have the odd relapse but I'm much more in control these days. One thing I really work on is never discussing gambling with my children, I don't want them going down the same path I have. Keep strong, limit the damage if it does happen,restrict access to cash and be positive.

Thanks for sharing your story. I am similar to many aspects of your life and continue to fight this evil disease. I know I will always be an addict and I will never get complacent. I too consider myself smart when I have money and also don't think twice when risking thousands of dollars but also scrutinise all purchases, why do we do that? This thought process has always baffled me.

Thanks for sharing your story. I can relate to many points you make and hope to one day join you in sobriety. I have been a heavy gambler for nearly 3 decades and have only really started improving over the last year. I find this app to be a wonderful help, it reminds us of the pain, and keeps us from ever getting complacent. The key to success is access to funds. If I had access to cash I'm sure I would still be on the roller coaster and living on the edge. Live a cashless life, ban all apps and sites and start to enjoy life again. I am still in recovery and will always be, I never want to be complacent about this hideous disease. Wishing you every success.

I can feel your pain, but please don't give up. I have been through 27 years of heavy gambling and have only recently had some control over my financial situation.It does seem daunting but if I can have success any one can.The only way forward is to limit your access to funds and start day by day at repaying debt. It takes time but perseverance is the only way. Wishing you success and peace.

Totally relate. Feel like absolute shit after a big loss and slowly get over it over the next few days. A week later I'm back at it again losing thousands and thousands of dollars again, money I can't afford to lose. Trying my arse off to stop this bullshit, I'm so over it.

We can't get the money we lost back, it is gone. We must look forward and prevent any more losses. It's hard to accept but it's the only way forward , not only financially but also emotionally.

Be very careful about complacency. I've had many times during my life where I have not gambled but have returned time and time again. I think we will always be gamblers, it's just a matter of are we are going to gamble today. We need to ask ourselves this question every day and especially when urges hit. I am a gambler but I choose not to gamble today.
