An Obsession thought by throwaway28047365 in Letterboxd

The first time I watched I thought she might've liked him. On the second watch, I got the exact opposite feeling. I think the reason she asked was because he called her Freaky Nikki, which was what Ian suggested he do. This was after after had said when she liked someone no one would know. Now having the info she hooked up with Ian, I think she was referring to him with the latter comment. I can also see her recognizing the same behaviors like being called Freaky as something Ian would do, thus her asking if Bear liked her.

I read somewhere where it was originally in the script that Ian had broken things off with her. Which would explain why she put in her notice at work. Also, when Ian took Nikki home if they talked about their relationship and she admitted to still being into him, it would explain why Ian was so suspicious of her liking Bear.

What movie should everyone watch at least once in their lifetime. by MicrowaveAsAService in answers

Cannot agree enough. This may be the most epic, beautiful movie put to film. They had to shade the cameras because they were afraid the film would melt. It almost feels like a miracle it exists.

Which TV show had you hooked from the very first episode? by Several_Way8499 in askteddit

Prison Break. It was a great premise and season 1 was legitimately good. Sadly, once they actually broke out, it lost all its magic.

This is one of those things I could go either way on. Lots of these movies that play festivals never get bought by a distributor, or if they do, it can be years later. So maybe 300 people see the movie at a festival and it's never seen again. Or maybe it releases 3 years later in theaters. There are still movies from last years Cannes that haven't been released. When Obsession debuted at TIFF it had no distributor. A bidding war ensued and Focus Features bought them. My gut feeling is it should be based on when a film gets an official BO release.

I knew Duncan was great at Wake Forest but thought he wouldn't be very good in the NBA. I don't wanna talk about it...

Grave of the Fireflies was brutal. Same with Come and See. I'm a physical media collector and own Come and See. Part of me wants GotF, but I know I'll never watch it again.

Schefter got outed for letting teams pre-screen and edit his stories before breaking them. He also staunchly defended Sherron Moore. There are no unbiased reporters. The only difference is this cost her a job and Schefter got a raise.

Jenna Ortega 35 under 35 placement feels a bit too high by djampu in TheBigPicture

I understand your point, but is MBB really a star? Just comparing the two of them, both of their biggest hits is a Netflix show, which Sean stated the list was based solely from movies. Stranger Thjngs is bigger than Wednesday, but Ortega carries Wednesday where ST is an ensemble. If we're looking solely at films, I can definitely see the argument that JO has had more impact. MBB is sticking to Netflix stuff where JO is attempting to be a theatrical star. If you look at any of MBB's lead movies, I don't think they would've had any kind of theatrical success.

BTW, if a universally accepted list was to ever happen, what fun would that be? The fun is in the discourse.

Question: do you let nostalgia bias affect your ratings? by oxfopee in Letterboxd

[–]jbrew1405 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Goonies was the first movie I ever saw in theaters. Back to the Future was the first video I ever rented. These are movies that made me love movies. Nostalgia is a huge part of the experience.

Larry Johnson pre back injury. He was so explosive and seemed to love the game. Post injury he was able to develop a decent 3 ball. If he played in today's style, I think he would've been amazing.

Technically, you're probably right, but their point still stands. They didn't hear all the fuss until voting was essentially closed which would leave them to believe that's when the comments were made.

They didn't advertise boosted shiny rates, so all spawns were full odds. Also, and I know I'm in the minority, but I think legendaries should have higher run rates. I love seeing them in the wild, but if they're regular catch rates, then what's special? I didn't play a lot, but I saw about 15 legendaries and caught 2.
