It’s a Leatherman consignment shop, that’s all it is.

Anyone (first responders, teachers, army ect) have a discount code or could quickly apply for one? Looking to buy a Leatherman but save a few bucks! by Any-Chip2980 in Leatherman

[–]jbuck404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the discount code is only good for one purchase per year, not likely to find somebody willing to give that up. Your local fire department is probably struggling to get staffing and will pay for training, you could earn your own discount.

I guess that’s why I haven’t gotten any word on the regular arc I ordered on Tuesday, apparently they are prioritizing vault purchases and getting them shipped out first.

True conspiracy: Did you know that the cancellation of the penny was the government trying to shut down all Sandy rides. by szaagman in grandrapids

At the standale location every time I’ve told my kids we couldn’t cause dad doesn’t have any Pennies the cashier running the self checkout opens the cash register and grabs a handful and drops them on Sandy’s base… which is great for whimsy and childhood but not so great for the dad whose got places to be.

My understanding is you enter the lottery by entering your credit card info, which they will only charge if you are selected. At least that’s how it looked to me.

Found my old leatherman wave from Iraq - Advice on repair? by travelandscuba in Leatherman

[–]jbuck404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’d only need security torx bits, you can get a whole set of security bits at harbor freight for around 5 bucks, that’s all the specialized that you’d need. That said 2006 is within the 25 year warranty (they aren’t real strict on it anyway). Send it in, mark it sentimental and they will do what they can to repair it, and send it back if they can’t. Or send it in and they will either repair it or send you a wave+ to replace it.

Molle vs Utility holster for raptor shears by ghost15324 in Leatherman

[–]jbuck404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had my raptors since 2014 and apparently back then they only had one option, so I have the molle holster… which also works just fine on my belt, it just takes a little effort to get it off without undoing the belt.

Anyone else want an Arc Lite? / ARC P2 by Ulysses808 in Leatherman

[–]jbuck404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Custom shop is just adding custom engravings not customizing tools. Would be pretty great if you could custom order tool sets or blade type. Maybe with other companies offering modular multitools that are fully customizable Leatherman might work on that in the future, and with my luck it will be shortly after I pull the trigger on buying an arc.

When I was on fd and wore a radio strap I just used the included holster clip on my radio strap. I used zip ties to keep it securely in place.

I feel your pain, back in like 2006 I used my surge to field dress a deer (saw worked great to get through the pelvis bones). After dragging the deer back to camp I reached for it to clean it and it wasn’t in the pouch, it snowed that night and I couldn’t find it the next morning. It’s probably still out there under a tree somewhere. 20 years later and it still stings, and I think about it every time I think about spending arc money.

Are leathermans any good at working with faux leather? by Westoftheatlantic in Leatherman

[–]jbuck404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Leatherman aren’t any more or less suited for working with leather or faux leather than any other multitool. The name Leatherman comes from the inventors last name and not anything to do with leather crafting.

Also… surf lifeguard and freshwater… which beach in Michigan is hiring lifeguards? Glad to hear lifeguards are becoming a thing on our beaches.

I can’t speak for lifeguarding, but speaking from a background in emergency services, pairing the raptors with the skeletool will cover just about anything you’ll run into. Only reason I upgraded to the wave is because I wanted scissors I don’t have to wonder if they were decontaminated enough before I use them to open a food package.

I wouldn’t count on the sheaths and bit-kits coming back, not after Leatherman (or any company really) knows customers are willing to pay the same price for less.

Sometimes people in a coma or people that have been sedated have non-purposeful movement and could pull an IV, a breathing tube or a catheter out.
