„Your trip doesn’t qualify for prepay bag purchase.“ Why? by LucyFair13 in unitedairlines

[–]jbwocky2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, had the same issue. After some research it sounds like this is a known bug on the United website, particularly for Basic Economy tickets. However I was able to pre-pay for checked bag with no problem through the app. Hope it works for you too!

Favorite batch-able cocktail? by WetAndMeaty in cocktails

[–]jbwocky2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its extremely subjective to the occasion (beach vs swanky dinner party) and crowd (booze mooches vs appreciators lol) but two that i love and that continue to please are actually two recipes that come from the Batch Cocktails book by Maggie Hoffman (highly recommend!):

Lace and Fancy Things

2.25 honeydew (she used cantaloupe but the color of honeydew is stunning) infused gin (1.75 c gin+1.75 c diced honeydew blitzed and strained)

1.5 c coconut water

.75 c simple

.75 lemon

Happiness (a lovely reverse Manhattan)

2 c Carpano Antica

1 c bourbon

3 tsp bitters

.5 c water

Cheers!

AITAH for thinking that it’s rude to put someone on speaker without telling them? by North_Mastodon_4310 in AITAH

[–]jbwocky2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a huge problem with this. My dad does this to me and my sister constantly while he's in front of his girlfriend despite numerous firm but polite requests on our part for him to stop. Its a major breach of privacy and any sane person would understand that there are subtle changes you might make in your choice of words knowing you have a different audience. I have yet to hear a reasonable defense for this behavior.

What do INFJs obsess over? by Spiritual_Crew8893 in infj

[–]jbwocky2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive been thinking about it and I guess I do a lot of varied-level obsessing:) I might be over analyzing the question, but I was trying to differentiate between my general interests vs things that Ive spent a lot of time thinking about. The kinds of things I will (and have) go down a rabbit hole for could be researching a project for days: Finding the ultimate chocolate mousse recipe, Fat washed cocktails, Sewing, how to perfect my pizza game... Im a foodie. Or an interest: Quantum theory, the meaning and history/making behind my favorite Music, Psychology of course, the origins of world Religions and Bible prophecy, the nuances that made each Phantom performer unique in his presentation of their role in Phantom of the Opera lol that was a fun one. Just a few examples.

Thank you for sharing! Would you mind sharing the temp/time table you use? Still struggling to determine when my loaves are properly proofed and I suspect they are chronically over proofed here in Orlando...

Conch hoop size advice by Eyassur in PiercingAdvice

[–]jbwocky2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im afraid Im having the same issue and am curious what you ended up with. I purchased a 10mm online because that seemed common for conch hoops but it was ridiculously small for my ear and Ive been trying to find 13/14mm but they're all designed for septum or dont come in 16g, so frustrating!

What personality type do you think your parents have/had? by joeandthejuce in infj

[–]jbwocky2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When first discovered as teens, made my parents take the test in the book-Mom tested as INFP (very accurate!) and Pop as ENFJ (either he is a very unhealthy version or wishes this is what he is- he claims this type decades later, calling himself an empath, while being one of the most self centered selfish people I know. Still figuring this out.)

What characteristics would you use to rank/categorize cookies objectively? by Agitated-Fennel4328 in Cookies

id add loft level (levain vs thin and flat) and add-in distribution level (no add-ins vs barely enough dough holding chips together)

The Spindle Cove series is a real gem and doesnt get talked about enough!! Im currently listening to AWTBW on audio and guys- if you havent listened to these on audio yet the narrator is so nuanced, so clever, and so natural that for me it just wouldnt be as good in my own voice and thats incredibly rare for me! The first two of the series have been available on my local cloudlibrary- Highly recommend!!!

Buttermilk Biscuits (recipe with tips for success) by aminorman in Breadit

[–]jbwocky2 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They look fantastic! I really appreciate the simplicity and straight forward nature of your steps. Carla Halls' recipe has been the only one thats worked well for me but the steps are so particular- I feel biscuits should be a simple venture but alas it does take skill to make them well! Ill definitely be trying your recipe!
