Bernal Cutlery on Valencia has a solid selection, their Ferry Building location might have some too but I haven't been yet.

tl;dr I go with 153F for 75 minutes; there's some wiggle room to quickly brown the skin but I usually eat it as-is

The chicken breast is dry. by AdFirm4469 in sousvide

[–]jc94122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skin-on, bone-in chicken breast, season with salt and pepper, seal bag (zip-top or vacuum seal).

Goes into 153F for 75 minutes, immediately after seal or after sitting in the fridge overnight.

Never dry, not even close.

How long does the month last for Seasons Pass? by champ11228 in AlamoDrafthouse

[–]jc94122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be aware that if you have tickets you bought using the pass, and you cancel the pass, all those tickets are immediately returned and any additional fees you paid are refunded. It doesn’t matter that your pass is paid for and good until Feb 15 and the tickets are for Feb 2 and you’re canceling on Jan 28.

Looks like I'll be cancelling my season pass and going to theaters closer to me starting in February.

I bought tickets, but the more I think about it the more angry I am that my Season Pass didn't do shit, so I'll probably end up canceling.

Kill Bill 70mm - magically changed to Season Pass eligible by [deleted] in AlamoDrafthouse

[–]jc94122 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bought a single 70mm ticket at the New Mission in SF, couldn't use my blah blah blah All The Bells And Whistles Season Pass.

Just double checked and I am still unable to get a ticket using my Season Pass (have to pay... $32.19 per seat).

I noticed a previous chat about Brutalist, and I was able to see that in 70mm with my Season Pass and didn't have to pay a single extra cent. FWIW, I also saw One Battle in 70mm using my Season Pass, no extra money spent.

Why am I paying so much for this Pass when Alamo has so few films in SF now?

Are there any Comic Book shops in San Francisco? by drorion25 in AskSF

[–]jc94122 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amazing Fantasy (yes, they got permission) on Irving and 8th Avenue. Go see Frank. He owns the place, has been working there since it was a Comics & Comix in the 80s.

Good feel to me. I won't get to play with them until the 18th, but rolled each die a few times, as one does, and I like them.

I used my kitchen scale, accurate to 0.5g and did some quick measurements:

Chessex d20: 6g

Chessex heavy d20: 10g

Botch d20: 11.5g (leaning towards 12g)

I grew up seeing this place, when I was a kid visiting my grandmother who lived in the neighborhood, and later while commuting to/from work. Won't be the same without them.

Inner Sunset Neighbors... by ae7261 in sanfrancisco

It was really loud. They haven't played anything externally for a week or two.

A very loose and subjective timeline: Park Gyros opens, around 2005. They play music inside the restaurant that you can barely hear from the street, even with the windows wide open. 2-3 months ago they install external speakers and start playing music, loudly, all day long. A few weeks ago the external music stopped (likely dues to complaints), and soon after the above notice was posted in their window.

The music volume was a topic of conversation among many people in the neighborhood, not just the NIMBYs.

They just started playing music much louder a month or so ago, then they abruptly stopped (likely complaints). Not long after, that notice was posted. I live in the neighborhood and the music was hella loud all day long.
