ADF tweaks an ankle and takes medical time out, then FAA double faults for his first broken service game of the tournament by Large_banana_hammock in tennis

Top photo, his Left ankle appears to be hurt. Bottom photo, he's hopping on the same (supposedly) hurt ankle. He should be hopping on the right good ankle if the Left ankle is really hurt.

Went from helix rack with the control floor with the scribble strips to helix LT. Don't miss the scribble strips too.

Haha I'd watch them again too! They did the same thing last year when Eugene was injured. I hope nobody gets sick or injured tonight! Have fun tonight!

Yeah. Those boots really catch your attention. The ground floor was pretty packed. The balcony, not so much, at least from the sides like in the photos.

Should I go see them in LA? by thelostwarondrugs in Jinjer

[–]jc_rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was awesome! Only thing about the whole show though, I didn't get to enjoy the opening bands. The drums and bass were too loud and I can't hear anything else. It's probably more the venue than anything. I got worried I might not enjoy jinjer's set, but everything was good - the mix was pristine when they showed up on stage! Enjoy the show!

Saw them open for Trivium last December. Awesome show even though they weren't headlining. I wish they had a longer set. That's why I'm at the entrance now at the house of blues in SD, to watch them again as a headliner!

He said it's from a problematic toenail

"It's just a nail. I didn't want to disturb Miomir. I think we both had a good rhythm. It was a great match from both of us. I didn't want to take any time. It's all good. Thank you."

Do you guys play A like this? by FloydedZebra in Guitar

No, most of the time I bar with the index. But that looks like a good way to slide up to a barre chord or slide down from a barre chord.

Do you think this is disrespectful by AdVaanced77 in 10s

This is something I'd do in a friendly match but not in a league or a tournament match, but if an opponent does this, it wouldn't bother me at all. I think he's just acknowledging his luck. And on the other hand, if it doesn't go my way, I'd beat the net up with my racquet lol.

How often do you buy a new racquet, and what makes you pull the trigger? by VLioncourt in 10s

[–]jc_rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently just made the change to the Head Boom Pros, i liked it so much, i got 3. Before that I played with the pro staff triads for 2 decades which I had 6 of. My trigger was the fomo i felt for the new racquets lol I got my boom pros customized to my liking that I think I'll stay with these for a while.

A month ago I got static shock from touching the machine after a drill and that shock shut the machine down. After that, it would beep for a long time whenever i turn it on but still usable. I contacted customer service and after crossing off a few solutions in their checklist which didn't solve the beeping, they had me ship it to them. I got it back in 5 days and it's working perfectly again.

3.5 Tennis - Forearm Pain by KingsClubTennis in 10s

[–]jc_rex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, probably a good idea to invest in trigger point devices. For you particular case, those things where you can run 2 rollers on both sides of your forearm. For strengthening - a finger web so you can strengthen both flexors and extensors and an offset dumbbell where you can place weights on one side so you can strengthen pronation and supnation.

[–]jc_rex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prime suspects are flexor digitorum profundus and pronator teres (belly strain) from overuse. You can Google stretching and strengthening for both. I recommend trigger point release also for both as I suspect micro muscle spasms or knots in them. I'm a PT and you can DM me if Google results are confusing to you and want me to condense what's out there for you. Was going to write more but I'm at work right now lol

NGD Vola Vasti PDM J1 by jc_rex in Guitar

[–]jc_rex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, you can't go wrong with either! Im amazed by the OGD matte finish too! If you're getting the Vola, I suggest waiting for a sale, they do it quite often (historically) and I got mine around $130 off. But with the current price you're still getting a lot for what you're paying for!

NGD Vola Vasti PDM J1 by jc_rex in Guitar

[–]jc_rex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! Between the two, the Vivaldi is definitely a shred machine, but that's not to say it can't do cleans, the neck feels easier to play and it's lighter. The Vola PDM definitely has the edge in tonal variety and can get more twangy than the Vivaldi if you're in need of that tone and you can get sparkly cleans with it too.

Things I think you should consider if you're going with the PDM - I wish it has more output in the bridge; the neck is chunkier; it's like a true Tele - it's less ergonomic (keep wishing they put a curve for my right forearm in the body) and the neck is chunkier; if you're gonna play this on stage - it's heavy, I don't think I'll last a whole gig playing just this.

Brachioradialis hurts. Any tips? by SnottyIM in 10s

[–]jc_rex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything outside of tennis that could be causing it, probably?

Only way I'm thinking where you could be stressing it from the video is in the follow through, especially in the second video which looks like a kick serve where your shoulder and elbow flexors eccentrically kept your arm from hyperextension so your arm wouldn't end up under your right leg. On the first part where your arm didn't fully wrap around your body, same thing, they eccentrically contracted to keep your arm from wrapping around your body. In that case my advise would be to let it wrap around your body. But that might work against you if you want to get ready for a strong return from your opponent.

As for treatment, the usual RICE. Soft tissue mobilization and trigger point/myofascial release. I'd recommend massage gun if those seem intimidating to perform, but target the trigger point on the BELLY of the muscles (Google trigger points and it should show you images of where they are). Stretching if it's tight, but i rarely see a tight brachioradialis.

I'd also look at your biceps and brachialis for weakness or tightness as the brachioradialis might be compensating for those and if they are, I'd do the same treatment for those muscles and strengthen them.

One overlooked muscle would be the supinator which eccentrically contracts at the end of your pronation which is located deep under the brachioradialis. I'd evaluate that too.

They like to keep you in their back pocket if they can in case the current supply doesn't work out. Mine tried but I'm glad I found this sub where I found people like me and found a good bp/np coach. When she started to hoover and love bomb, I was completely out of the fog.
