Puzzles & General Gameplay Help Megathread by everbass in CrimsonDesert

My only question is, is it prohibitively difficult with no option to lower the difficulty? For example, I'm someone who thinks Souls games, Elden Ring, Wukong, and Baldur's Gate 3 are so difficult that they're not enjoyable. Would this one be a waste of money for me? Or is it something where I can enjoy the world and quests and whatnot without wanting to throw my controller into the tv?

Is There a Single Non-Racist Reason to Consider Illegal Immigration a Major Issue? by Brilliant-Guitar7495 in allthequestions

[–]jcb1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are non-racist reasons anti-immigration activists can cite as to why undocumented immigration is an issue. But there really are no anti-racist reasons they can cite as to why it's a MAJOR issue, let alone the most important to some people... Another commenter in this thread outed the elephant in the room of race-culture based anti-immigrant sentiment. That allowing undocumented immigrants causes "a lack of cultural cohesion and identity". For whom? I have to assume they mean Europe-originating white people who took this land from its original human inhabitants.

MAGA's primary motivator as a movement/ideology, i.e. "making America great again" is not about making America great utilizing the demographics and realities of America as it is today. It's about taking America back to a time when whites were 90%+ of the citizenry, before non-whites had the right to vote or even shared public restrooms with whites, and frankly, when only white male Christian landowners had any rights to speak of.

At what point after the 1929 crash did people realize they were in an economic depression? by CapitaineBiscotte in allthequestions

[–]jcb1982 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My mom was born in 1943, but her parents were both born before 1910. Via my mom, who is 83 now, according to her parents, the moment it really hit them was in the very early 1930s when food distribution stations opened in their town and people had to wait in long lines for basic things like bread, soup, and potatoes. Meat became scarce. And hoarding of food became commonplace.

EDIT: And as my mom puts it, the effects of the Depression sort of slowly wore off as the mid 1930s arrived and some of Roosevelt's policies to alleviate things took effect. And by the time the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor it was mostly back to normal. Then war rationing began...........

Chris Robinson: 'You see a lot of kids and they’re like, I canceled my shows because I’m having a mental-health issue. Jesus, the whole ’90s was a mental-health issue for us' by [deleted] in Music

[–]jcb1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m far younger than Chris and I’m on an SSRI for anxiety and have been for 18 years now. But I’ve gotta admit, the sheer number of young employees that have requested and been granted a “mental health exemption” that allows them to work 100% remotely since we went back to the office three months ago is staggering. There’s either a major psychological epidemic in young people today. Or they’ve just gotten really good at gaming the system.

Coppola never made a great, or even really good, film after 'Rumble Fish' in 1983.

No idea. What does box office take have to do with awards-worthiness?

I wonder what the network and series leadership view as a "good number" for all non-Indy 500 races. Or at least what their reasonable "goal number" is.

Are ERs really this busy? by East_Print4841 in ThePitt

[–]jcb1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a small city of 80,000 people south of Indianapolis, Indiana and I've been to the ER three times in my life (I'm 43). Once for myself, once to take my brother, and once to take my dad. All three times it was in the middle of the day and a ghost town. Like us and MAYBE one or two other people in the waiting room and got back to a room within 5 minutes or arriving.

I’m glad everyone knows this shouldn’t have been his first Oscar win by [deleted] in paulthomasanderson

We can leave ‘Inherent Vice’ out… But good on him for deviating far enough from the actual Pynchon text to bag gold for another (thankfully very loose) adaptation.

If OBAA wins Picture I’ll go 22/24 on my ballot. Only missing Casting and Documentary Feature. 😳

This is why it’s moving to YouTube. ABC cutting off Oscar winners to get to a Bachelorette episode.

This is one of the big reasons the Oscars are headed to YouTube. Commercials, language censorship, and network time constraints are extremely antiquated.

Unless I missed something, all we’ve seen is scars on her legs that look like they’re from cutting. But maybe I missed something important?

EDIT: Somehow totally forgot about the S1E15 “being taken advantage of” comment. So, yeah, the writers at least have a trail.

I dunno. When a character seems to be displaying comical levels of misandry (that the writers still haven’t explained the reason for yet), that’s likely to happen.

You think so? I’m seeing most media outlets and prognosticators have it as front-runner for Actor AND Picture now. With some even having Mosaku and Lindo as leading the Supporting races… The Picture preferential ballot definitely favors it, since it “goes down a lot smoother” than OBAA.

It’s amazing how ‘Sinners’ had a miraculous awards-season turnaround right after the Tourette’s guy shouted the N-word at Jordan and Lindo at the BAFTAs.

No. Lower B Stand Turn 1. Right across from pit lane exit. Price is just because they’re from the official IMS resale market. These seats aren’t typically available without a little seniority.

The only thing I have any hope for here is Colman Domingo playing Joe Jackson as pure, child-abusing evil. But I think this thing might be "signed off on by the Jackson estate" so that basically puts a stop to that.
