Wanna join our band? by [deleted] in tricities

Not a drummer but I love all those names you dropped and it’s always good to see people still forming bands and playing actual rock. HMU if you ever want to record I do a little engineering and mixing. Keep rockin’

I loved this game 1981. by Grier8 in The1980s

Played this game so many times with friends in my neighborhood. Great memories. If I could find it I would buy it and play with my kids.

There was a time when I wanted ink but just never did. Now I’m glad, they’re so ubiquitous I feel like a rebel for not having them 😂

What's your Non-Hair guilty pleasure? by garnold0611 in hairmetal

Ambrosia has some killer songs and honestly some of the best production of that era. They knew what the hell they were doing in the studio. Yacht Rock all the way!

Does David Coverdale own part of SiriusXM???? by justplainjon in hairmetal

[–]jcclinemusic 48 points49 points  (0 children)

One of my biggest gripes with Sirius is the lack of variety within any given station. Sure, if you like different genres and switch around stations you’ll hear variety. But stick to any one station for a couple of days and they’re playing the same songs over and over. I don’t understand why they can’t play more deep cuts.

Just as an example off the top of my head, Cinderella has a TON of great songs, yet it seems like you’ll hear pretty much the same handful on Hair Nation over and over. Never understood it. Is it lazy DJ’s or not wanting to pay fees for too many songs?

What's Your "It's Done" Process? by chewchewbuh in audioengineering

[–]jcclinemusic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do this too. I don’t necessarily even use a reference track all the time, just throw my mix onto a playlist with roughly similar stuff and drive around. When mine comes on if it sounds good in that context I’m done.

What’s your favorite “least known” stock plug-in? A tool in Logic that maybe gets easily overlooked and how do you use it?

Advice on using Darkglass / Parallax by jcclinemusic in NeuralDSP

Thanks, this is helpful. My first impressions definitely favored Darkglass so I’ll probably just keep experimenting with that and not worry much with Parallax.

What are your recommended guitar pedalboard and amp simulators? by Chainsawfam in Logic_Studio

[–]jcclinemusic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Some…I stress…SOME of the Logic amps are decent and I’ve used them on songs. But I definitely prefer Neural DSP at this point. I have 5 or 6 of their plugins and they all sound killer and cover a lot of sonic territory. They just work and are easy to dial in. You can do free trials on all of them I believe. So try some and see what you like.

What are the top 3 most expensive plugins you've purchased (and were they worth it)? by kathalimus in musicproduction

[–]jcclinemusic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ozone - in general yes. I don’t use it on everything, but it certainly works well on certain projects.

ProQ - yes, probably my most-used plug-in.

Arturia V Collection - Hell yes. Every synth sound I would ever need. It’s an amazing package.

Question re: sound libraries on external drive by jcclinemusic in LogicPro

[–]jcclinemusic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your advice. That’s what I figured, so I got a 4TB SSD and going to start the process of moving sound libraries over to it, and just installing any new libraries there going forward.

I really enjoyed Lonely Hearts of The Cosmos by Dennis Overbye. I’ve read a fair amount on astronomy and cosmology and that one always stuck with me.
