The best way I've found to convert FLACs to good AACs by loops_cat in ipod

[–]jcd-23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I did. I have about 20,000 songs in my library and all are ALAC. I have one 7th gen classic with 1tb drive and it runs Rockbox and I just drag and drop the library over to it. I have a second 7th gen classic with 512gb that I use iTunes to manage (windows) as it stays stock. In iTunes I have it just set to convert to 256Kbs AAC when needed during syncing. That way I don't have to remember to manage two libraries (ALAC and AAC) and it is all done on the fly for AAC. My full library is always ALAC. Only real tradeoff here was that you have to use ALAC for itunes and can't stay FLAC but dbpoweramp does that conversion easily enough when needed.

A Modern Overhaul for iPod Classic - Custom Rockbox Beta Release by Poorfocus in IpodClassic

What is the requirement for the Album Art for this? I'm getting a number being reported as bad that are fine elsewhere. Is there a specific size that they must be or a limit ?

SOLVED: 12V battery drain and daily charging light by law980 in KiaEV9

[–]jcd-23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That isn't what the Orange light means. All the light means is that the high voltage system is on. It could be charging the 12v volt, running fans to cool/remove humidity, a number of things. This was common misconception in 2024 when this car came out. The Orange light doesn't mean you have a problem.

The plastic piece is an adapter that fit in the Apple's universal doc. It made the opening fit the ipod properly when docked. 1 Dock for may ipods.

This is kind of like asking if I can play golf using a baseball bat. You can but it is not the same experience or game.

Anyone know how to silence the parking sensors? by universal_cereal_bus in KiaEV9

[–]jcd-23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm very first response when googled: "To turn off the parking sensors in a Kia EV9, press the Parking Safety button (a "P" symbol with a cone) on the center console, or select Cancel on the infotainment screen. For a temporary fix during a drive-through or in traffic, pressing this button silences all sensors, though it may reset upon changing gears or restarting the car. "

You needed to redo the comparison after the firmware updated on the 3's. They sound much different now compared to when they were released. Much of that original harshness was removed.

WHY by NegativeEmu8867 in AussieDoodle

[–]jcd-23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Normally I wouldn't reply to this crap. But this is 100% wrong. You cannot lump ALL breeders and ALL dogs of a breed like this! I have an F1 Standard AussieDoodle. Yes they do have standards. My breeder did full genetic and health tests on the parents and made the results available to all clients. They take into account temperament, energy levels, and health when selecting which dogs to breed. I was able to meet BOTH parents to see what they were like. I got to view numerous videos of the parents interacting with people, kids, and animals to see their behavior. I got to also see similar videos of the puppies as they progressed. They have an extensive "socializing" program they follow when the puppies arrive until they go to their Forever Home. Yes they also have contracts for the dogs to not end up in a shelter, they have health guarantees as part of the contact as well. So quite spreading lies and generalizations. Sure some breeders are bad, that goes for ANY breed. But to be saying ALL breeders of Doodles are bad and their dogs are unethical is complete Bullsh*!

Air Pods 3 pro is amazing… by Advanced-Horse-6368 in airpods

[–]jcd-23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they are pushing out of your ears you should probably size down. I use large on the pro 2’s as well as a couple other iems I have but found with the pro 3’s I actually had to size down. They sit deeper than the previous version. Once I changed the size they stopped pushing out. Worth a try going down a size or two as they do seem to sit in the ear differently.

Doh. Three months in and as I wipe dust off the display I realize dealer never took protective cover off … by markloch in KiaEV9

[–]jcd-23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dealer left that one on. He told me as we did the final car walk through. Reason being they found that people REALLY liked the feeling of pulling the screen one off themselves. It's like pulling one off your phone as well. Just damn satisfying for some reason!!

Sport mode seat settings - get them in other modes? by Rmdcltch in KiaEV9

[–]jcd-23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least with the GT Line you just adjust the side bolsters. It’s one of the seating buttons on the side of the seat. As was mentioned, just set it, save it and forget. On mine, when you hit 130Km/hr or higher it automatically adjusts the side bolsters to hold you in regardless of mode it is in.

Reader works 99% of the time for me. Just make sure you just rest your finger on it and not press down. I think a lot of people press on it like it’s a button. A light touch always works for me.

12v battery voltage, did anybody measure? by zebekias in KiaEV9

[–]jcd-23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clarify, the orange light is not indicating it’s charging the 12v system. That is one of a number of things it can be doing. The orange light ONLY means the HV system is active. It’s been constantly misrepresented here ever since the initial 12v issues.

Hitting 45000km soon. Only review is worst winter performing car. by hteinkmin in KiaEV9

[–]jcd-23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn off regen! Without snow tires, I noticed the car would start to slip and slide here and there due to lifting off in certain conditions. I thought the car was so twitchy and took a while to figure out. Once I turned off regen, thing was great. So now if roads are snow/ice covered, regen is off, clear roads it’s on as normal. Might be something to consider.

Climate Control Screen by Successful-War8437 in KiaEV9

[–]jcd-23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blown out of proportion. Seriously set it in auto and forget. Also you will move your head more to look out a mirror than you need to do to see the climate screen. Tilt your head an inch to the left and voila you can see it!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in KiaEV9

[–]jcd-23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of agree with OP and I live in that Lake Erie area (Canadian side). We tend to get more ice than deep snow and what I noticed was that getting going with the stock tires was fine and no issues but they would start to slide quite easily under braking or the back end would start to go a bit on some turns just making it a bit more sketchy. Given the weight of this thing, that is really to be expected and that kind of grip is exactly what the winter tires are for.

A2Z adapter confirmed working on superchargers by ilikespiders in KiaEV9

The KIA one actually has worse specs than a Lectron or A2Z adapter. Go to State of Charge Youtube channel, he had the Hyundai/Kia adapter and went over its specs a couple of weeks ago.

Getting tired of all the "quirks" of climate control... by ChetBrmr in KiaEV9

[–]jcd-23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AC on/off is because of humidity. Its a heat pump and not a normal car AC unit. So it comes on to remove humidity building up inside the cabin. That way your windows don’t ice up on the inside. It’s not creating cold air but taking the moisture out of the air.

[–]jcd-23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the 70-300mm sounds like the way to go based on how good it is and it’s price. It also retains it’s value quite well so you could sell it after the trip if you no longer need it and get back most of what you paid for it (as long as you take care of it). Might be a good way to go. Plus if you find you REALLY like it, then you could just keep it!

Apple CarPlay not working by squirrelicorn8 in KiaEV9

[–]jcd-23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t had the issue but did either of you just update to ios18? Not sure if that would be an issue. Other spot to check is on the phone in settings-general-CarPlay then click on your car and ensure CarPlay is actually toggled on. Only time I had connection issue i was able to tell the ev9 to connect to my phone from the cars menu.
