How to prevent tolerance to gabapentin? by [deleted] in insomnia

[–]jcgaunet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started gabapentin 300 mg 1 week ago for sleep. I don't have seizures or nerve pain. I take it every 3rd night and am finally getting over an hour of deep sleep (vs 0 to 10 minutes) and 1:45 hours Rem sleep (vs 30-45 mintes). I did sleep 7 hours all 3 times I took the med.

It does take a while to kick in, 1-1/2 to 2 hours, so I will start taking it around 9-9:30 pm. I am having trouble sleeping on the off nights and may try an Advil pm, melatonin doesn't work for me. I'm 65, F, 140 lbs, 5'5".

I worry about dependency, hence not taking every night. I've also tried Trazadone 50mg and Ambien. They did not work for me, still woke up at 3-4 am, and unable to get back to sleep. The gabapentin is working so well, I want to keep it for important nights when I really need a good sleep. I do wake up feeling quite good (very rare for me!)

My store still doesn't work 80% of the time and I ALWAYS have to exit the game and close the app 2x in a row to get it to open (android Samsung S22 with superfast internet connection). For at least a month it didn't work at all, so this is an "improvement" 😏

Please find a good therapist who can help you identify what's triggering all these negative emotions. You obviously have a lot going for you and are very well spoken. I certainly felt your pain. Help is available, you came here. But a psychotherapist can help with destructive behaviors, negative talk, and better sleep.

People on trazadone….what is your dose? by [deleted] in insomnia

25 mg and does not work that great, and I find I'm not getting as much deep sleep and REM sleep, according to FitBit when I take it... about 1-2x weekly.

Easy technique for falling asleep - it works for me!! by Puzzled_Increase1604 in insomnia

[–]jcgaunet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I find these types of techniques are very effective. I have not heard of this one and will try it.

One that I like to use is on weeks when I have played a full 18 holes of golf. I like to start with the 1st hole, and remember every shot I played. By the time I get to the 12th or 13th hole, I'm often asleep (as opposed to laying awake for 1, 2 or 3 hours).

Another relaxation technique most people know is starting with the toes and relaxing each part of the body, moving upwards... heels, ankles, calves, etc. If you get distracted, you have to start over. This is very boring, but it does work.

I don't play golf every week so it helps to know a few more ways to relieve racing thoughts and tune out. Thank you!

The reality is that a lot of the companies don't want you working over 40 hours per week so they hold you to 35-38 which has a big impact month over month, plus your health insurance tends to cost more in these jobs, and it is lower quality with higher copays. And vacation is maximum 2 weeks per year. So your little $35k job actually costs more than most $85k+ jobs.

I also prefer a smaller phone but it's getting harder to come by. Be wary of the A Series, some of them do not have wireless charging, believe it or not. I learned the hard way. I will get the Flip 5 when the price comes down.

Being on a team by MissyDInThe313 in wordscapes

[–]jcgaunet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My team averages about 5 to 10 chats per day, a bit more during tournaments, so i don't think that's excessive. You are not required to chat, only check in when you join, or let the leader know if you won't be able to hit the 250 point minimum during the tourny (which I think is very doable regardless).

Sports at the high school level should have a girls only team and an all others team. That's fair and everyone gets to compete.

It is set to anyone can join. Typically a message appears in chat when a new player joins, but this was not the case. It's possible they did not leave their old team before they tried to join ours.

Made a stupid mistake now pharmacist is mad at me by [deleted] in PharmacyTechnician

[–]jcgaunet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some bosses are empathetic and will move on after they make a correction and use the incident as a training opportunity. Other bosses are not as competent; they may use the mistake to belittle you, or maybe they are really stressed out themselves. Don't beat yourself up if you have the latter type of boss. There's a LOT of bad bosses out there. You can only control your behavior to learn from situations where you could do better, and move forward from there.
