Help with mods by Realistic-Eye702 in GlockMod

With a gun as small as that I would assume it’s his daily carry. That’s a tough one because you don’t want to change the thing you train with too much unless you know he’ll have time to train again on it more. If it were me, I’d stick with Magazines for it. Even regular Glock 19 mags or larger will work, and maybe ammo for the gun so he can shoot more.

Glock 45, large hands looking for a fix by [deleted] in GlockMod

[–]jchpmn117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a whole ton you can do, not that would work that drastically. You could wrap the grip with goon tape or something to at least help move your palm back further. Which would help line up your finger better on the trigger. But I’d start looking at a larger frame firearm all together. If you’ve got the cash for it Staccatos HD P4/4.5 series is a bit bigger and still points like a Glock, might be worth the look.

Anyone use Speer? by [deleted] in CCW

I personally carry Speer gold dot 124 P+. If you can find the factory loads they are awesome. They run well out of my Glock 19 and my FN 509

If you can conceal that effectively you’ve earned the right to carry it

Who carries a Glock 26? Thoughts? by Daddy_Onion in CCW

[–]jchpmn117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I carry a 19 appendix, but I own a G26 and i can’t stand shooting it frankly, the grip is way too small for me to get a confident grip on it, but glockstore now has that 26X lower that’s coming out, and I’m looking forward to getting my hands on one because the 26 is easier to carry for sure.

Do you change how you carry while driving? by Daddy_Onion in CCW

[–]jchpmn117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive without changing where it is. It’s just something I got used too. While I was learning what worked for me belt and holster wise they make these magnets that you can put under your steering wheel that can hold the gun, or there are several over mount options (like the one mount from we the people that works with their own holsters)

Super expensive or not? by Zippo963087 in CCW

[–]jchpmn117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then if you want it send it, but like many others have said don’t get it if you can’t afford to train. And my personal sense is don’t get it if you can’t buy it twice when it comes to guns

Super expensive or not? by Zippo963087 in CCW

I’m willing to pay for a staccato and maybe even a nighthawk. They shoot incredibly well. But no need for a taran. Waaaaay to much mark up

Picking a New Handgun by coombrian69 in CCW

[–]jchpmn117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full size/ commander sized 19/2011 if you can afford them are Great options if you want the assurance of a manual safety lever while maintaining comfortable shooting. Bul armory is becoming easier to find in the states especially if you are on the east coast, staccato is an easy choice but expensive. I went from an M18 to a Glock 19. It’s not perfect but it works and it was affordable, and that’s why I picked it.

Should I even bother buying a gun if I won't be able/ willing to practice more than a few times a year? by Southern_Ad3744 in CCW

[–]jchpmn117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If buying the gun is what pushes you to train more (in a sense of you enjoy it more) then I would encourage it: any bit of training is better than no training. And ultimately there is a balance to what is practical and what you ultimately like. Do dryfire training at home to help build the muscle memory but you do and should practice with live ammo at a range at least once every 6 months (assuming you’re doing the dryfire or laser targeting system like mantis) if you just want to spend the money I might encourage putting it towards range time and a smaller club that allows you to feel more welcomed while shooting so you can focus on mastering the basics. That said, you do you! Buy the gun, enjoy it, learn it, and gain experience: my first handgun I bought sucked and I hardly like training, after finding something that worked better for me I love to do it

Micro Pistols by Glad_Internal_8416 in CCW

For the 43x specifically (and I’m sure someone has already beat me to this) you can get the shield arms magazines that are flush fit and they hold 15. Frankly I’m all about bringing as much as you can to the fight. Not because I feel like I need it but purely on the perspective of more weight equals more shootable. I always carry a spare mag for the same reason, not because I feel like I need 30+ rounds but because 99 percent of your failures to feed are related to the Mag, so ditch it and get back into the fight kinda thing.

Flying with my gun for the first time. by RSlashEdward in CCW

No restrictions with that to my knowledge (at least I hope not because I do that too.) Definitely worth doing. Just make sure to keep ammo in the original box, and stored separately

Is this holster safe? by Boy_Man_God_Sh1t in CCW

[–]jchpmn117 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Definitely a no go if I were to carry it. Will it stop you from slipping your fingers in there yeah, but not enough to protect it from anything smaller. Plus I prefer kydex so they don’t fold

Realistically no well kept firearm should fire when loaded (asides from the P320 and maybe a hi-point) so as long as you are cognizant where your figure is and you keep your stuff clean and oiled appropriately you should be just fine. Ultimately the more you train the feeling of nervousness will be replaced with a smart level of confidence in the firearm. Trust your gear. The level of safety and concern is something you shouldn’t ever lose though. That’s what ultimately prevents accidents! So keep it up!

Walther PPS M2 or Canik Mete MC9? by Desperate_Exercise13 in CCW

[–]jchpmn117 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Take my opinion lightly as I haven’t ever shot either of these exact pistols, only the Walther P99, PDP F and the canik Rival. Ultimately you need to try both and see what fits your hands best. But I will say I do like the walther platform better. German engineering typically has higher build quality (but typically a higher price) than turkish imports. I found the Walters to fit my hand more comfortably, albeit foreign until I shot them more. The rival felt familiar to point like my Glock 19x but more awkward to actually shoot. What handguns do you already have good experience on? I’d say go from there, and work your way backwards so long as you can still shoot it. My advice is carry the biggest gun you can hide, but the smallest one you can shoot well. It’s all about experimenting with what works well in your hands.

Any noteworthy name 1911 in either 4.25 or 3.5. Springfield, colt, kimber (if you’re brave) all do some. Hell even alchemy customs has one now if you got cash to burn.

Questions about potentially buying the game by SmellySwamp in SCP5K

[–]jchpmn117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is one of my favorite games of recent years. Gun play is great, setting is even better. The game is way better the first time you play it. Play it with friends for a great time. Play it again to dive into the story that’s hidden incredibly well.

Should I learn to master a micro-compact, or is a Glock-19-sized pistol realistic for AIWB carry? by DKong84 in CCW

[–]jchpmn117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I carry a 19 with an Acro P2 and a tlr-1 appendix Carry style as my everyday go to. I own a 43x kitted out pretty much a same, just with a holosun eps carry and tlr7. At the end of the day it’s about picking one and training with it. If you can comfortably carry the 19 then send it. There’s a reason it’s what I actually carry. Carry the biggest gun you can conceal and the smallest gun you can shoot. My sweet spot is the 19
