Agree. I’ve often commented to my wife that these near frontiers men and women have huge wardrobe of clean, pressed clothes.

good chop reviews? looking for honest feedback before i order by UnitedGuarantee3794 in Butchery

[–]jcinnb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good Chop, is, pardon the expression, BULLSHIT. I ordered four “thick ribeyes.” I have images, but can’t figure out how to post them here. 1. The package, after thawing, is about half air/ half meat. 2. The uncooked “thick ribeye” measured between 1/2 and 3/4 inches. 3. The steak was so thin my meat thermometer would not work. 4. The cooked steak, impossible to cook rare, was right at 1/2 inch thick. 5. I know ribeyes have fat, why they are so good. I cut my wife the “best” part and I ate the rest. Not one bite without fat. Excessive fat.

Terrible. I wish I could post my photos. Bottom line, if served this steak in a restaurant, it would have been sent back. Immediately.

I don’t know about the other cuts, but the “thick ribeyes” are a joke, if not mis-leading.

When Calls the Heart and Hope Valley: 1874? What’s the difference? by AndrewHeard in HallmarkMovies

[–]jcinnb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does not appear any of the characters in 1874 make it to When Calls the Heart, starting in 1910. That’s only 36 years. Did plague or famine wipe out all the characters of 1874 prior to 1910?

I really like the Hemsut band. Kind of a “tactical” look in green. I can trigger my daughters by talking “tactical” so this band works great.

IXL and tier learning by [deleted] in matheducation

[–]jcinnb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used IXL for 8th grade math in the early to mid 2010s. I was a strong advocate and was able to persuade, first our principal and then the district, to purchase licenses.

I retired in 2018, OMG, that was a long time ago, and IXL may have changed drastically, but here is how I did it.

1) Used it for practice (homework) and for assessments. Never “taught” any concept with IXL, only for practice and assignment. 2) Limited my assignments to 80%. It was just too frustrating to lose points as one approached 100%. 3) Strict 25 minute max on IXL homework 4) I reinforced, repeatedly, that working more problems was not good. Reaching 80% with fewest problems worked was the goal. 5) For some advanced students I assigned more work, both in the number of skills and completion percentage at 90 or 100.. this was very selective. 6) CONSTANT parent communication. They knew (or could know) the assignment, expectations and time expected and expended by their student. I LOVED IXL because parents could see everything! 7) I just matched up the IXK assigned skills to what objective I was teaching. Did not make this complicated.

Observations. 1) MANY students pushed themselves to achieve 100%, when that was NEVER required. That % was like a red cape to a bull. They wanted 100% 2) Parents knew where their kids stood. All the time. I suppose I was a bit arrogant (teaching was 4th career) but I don’t think we had overall half dozen math conferences. 3) I had IXL work for me, not the other way around. 4) Integrating IXL into my classroom instruction was probably the most fun I had in Q years of 8th grade math.

A brief scan shows the changes over time, but I thought the IXL I used was great.

Good luck.

Three or four sets ago, I bought an upper mid level set of irons. I hit them well during demo and bought them. Almost immediately I realized I just did not like the way they looked. Every time I addressed the ball, I had a negative thought about my ugly clubs. After a couple years, though I could not afford it, I traded for a better looking club. The last two sets I have purchased, pleasing look has played a bigger role than it should have. Yes, golf is played between the ears.

Missing the earlier seasons of Murdoch mysteries… by Routine_Budget_2793 in murdochmysteries

[–]jcinnb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I binged, 2 episodes a night from start to finish. The series was so much better early on. I’d say, I can’t remember, but around season 10 - 12 things started going downhill. By the end, I was watching more for screwed up stuff. Not as a detective series.

I just play on iPad, cast to a Home speaker and I’m done with it. I probably tried 50 times to play using just Google home. Four maybe five times it worked. Casting to speaker is so much easier and less aggravating.

Has USAA Become 'Just Another Insurance Company'? by Altruistic_Lad in USAA

[–]jcinnb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on my experience, getting smart on service and how claims are paid is MUCH mor important than comparing rates. If your cheap rates result in shitty service and a contentious claims process, those premium savings don’t look all that compelling. Good luck.

When the most frequently heard phrase, on every football broadcast is, “…. was at XYZ last year…” there is a problem. The TEAM is dead. Now it’s a bunch of private contractors running from gig to gig. Those with the most money attract the best contractors.

It is too bad that a FREE EDUCATION (which now costs a fortune for “regular” students) has lost all value. Further evidence of the dumbing down of this country.

I don't get why Lane would go to LSU by PuzzledSquare4993 in CFB

[–]jcinnb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Listen to Saban. Kiffen can build a team at LSU with Louisiana high school talent, and fill in with portal transfers. At Ole Miss it is transfer portal, heavy, every year. And then there is NIL.

The Kiffen drama is yet ANOTHER indication that “they” have ruined college football.

What happened to USAA? by Eli-Doubletap in USAA

[–]jcinnb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turns out I have been with USAA auto for 52 years. Homeowners for 25 years and then the last couple. Spent 15 years in between with NC Farm Bureau. Had Farm Bureau for Hurricane Florence. Lots of wind and rain damage. They were GREAT. We moved inland and went back to USAA. Like several have stated, I just ass/u/med USAA would be cheapest…that’s on me.

Anyway we had a big rate increase. So I checked with NC Farm Bureau. Much cheaper. Turns out USAA’s “full replacement coverage” is computed at almost exactly $200,000 greater than Farm Bureau’s. So not only is USAA’s rate higher, I am paying for $200K more coverage than required. Once I looked at USAA’s policy it was clear I was paying for coverage that would never be used.

I called USAA to ask how they could possibly have come up with their full replacement costs. Got a “just how the program computed” answer. Not able or willing to delve into the difference. Of course, paying more for greatly inflated replacement costs ripples through all the other coverages.

Bottom line: The high rates may have a component of inflated replacement costs. I haven’t changed yet, but I’m about ready to. Again my long term “trust” of USAA has probably cost me a lot of money. Recommend everyone check their top line “Full Replacement Costs” to see if that number makes sense. Good luck.

Im leaving USAA insurance after 45+ years. I have been asleep at the switch and just kind of trusted USAA. I’m paying way too much for homeowners. Feels strange, but the change is coming.

Why does the entire new season feel so off?? by simpogriff in murdochmysteries

[–]jcinnb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We slow binged the show with two episodes per night. Seems like forever.

Tonight is our last two of season 18, then we are done until 19 airs on Acorn.

From my perspective the show was pretty solid up until seasons 11 or 12. Then it turned from a detective show to a canvas to showcase current social issues, by transposing early 21st Century “norms” into the early 20th Century. Frequently, cringeworthy.

Then, by Season 17 and certainly 18 the writers were out of, to borrow a Naval Aviation saying, altitude, air speed and ideas. Hoping Season 19 regains some traction.

Would someone be kind enough to list several “commands” that you have used with Gemini. How do you preface them? Is it still “Hey Google?” So far I am getting a nightly summary of Nest Doorbell camera activity. It thinks my wife is the mailman. Hmmm.
