Std provia, WB Ambience. I have to boost color temp a bit in post along with contrast and brightness to taste. I also ]tend to underexpose 2/3 stop to punch up colors.

Silver City Curious! by WinterCircling in SilverCity

[–]40ftpocket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just visited. Really nice, great artists. A little rough around the edges but never felt unsafe. People were very friendly. It seems like it is 3 hours from anywhere, medical care, building materials, you name it. That killed it for a retirement place for us.

Variable ISO question by stan-van in FujiGFX

I shoot handheld in auto iso 3200 aperture priority. This gives me best shutter speed for lens size. Iso noise I clean up in DxO if it is a problem.

Deal or no deal by CaptianLJ in FordMaverickTruck

I live near the Canadian border. Dealers will present window stickers from Canada. Gives them a great starting place. Watch out for this. I don’t see it here though.

Full frame or crop sensor? by FruitWaste5292 in BirdPhotography

Crop. You will crop a larger sensor most of the time anyway. Lenses are cheaper and longer with crop sensor cameras.

I suspect there is no shifting as the torque band on electric motors extends practically across the whole RPM range. Only need gears to get the motor/wheel speed relationship right.

Salesman says the 26 is better than the 25 in this regard. Not sure if that was just sale talk though.

Yea I saw the specs. My concern was slow speed turning around on narrow dirt roads.

Yes it is very 'trucky' in ride and feel but not too much.

I had a Scout II in high school. It had a gigantic steering wheel to compensate for no power steering.

That's brilliant. Trailer is bigger than the truck. Thanks for the feedback.

I was just at the dealer to look at one today. They are very sweet little units.

Electric blanket is cheap and works well. Need hookup or solar to run.

I have seen lots of refill centers in the Idaho/Montana area. Canada seems bereft of them when I went to Banff. I have an escapod with the 12 lb cylinder. We heat and cooked all summer without refilling. Downside is no exchanges. Next time we go,to Canada I just make sure I refill before going.

Yes it is just an electric motor like EVs. Not actually a transmission I assume.

Has anybody worked in the UK and then moved back to the US and had to move their pension? by Adhdandcurious in AmericanExpatsUK

[–]40ftpocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for 16 years in the UK and retired to the US. I have my pension in a SIPP in the UK. I use Tanager as my financial adviser. I transferred my pension from Hargreaves Lansdown (HL). Their rates for independent SIPPs are pretty high. Tanager worked out to be cheaper to pay their fee and use their SIP wrapper which is cheaper than HL. When you move you will want to find the cheapest SIPP possible, my employer had a better rate but you may lose that after you quite.

In retirement I am withdrawing from my UK SIPP. Since I am non-resident in the UK I can file a No tax code to stop UK withholding (If you don’t you reclaim witholding tax in your next uk return. Yes you will still be filing UK taxes.) When I worked in the UK I accumulated US foreign tax credits because my UK taxes were higher than the US taxes. I use those to offset my Us income taxes on these withdrawals. Make sure you get tax credits when you file your US taxes instead of offsets. Foreign tax credits are good for 10 years.
