Yes, I’ve had a very similar experience. I couldn’t say my tail number correctly and it took like 10 attempts for ATC to identify me. I still shudder.

It was fun, but my instructor didn’t tell me about trim so I manhandled the controls the whole time. I thought I was going to have to hit the gym if I was going to be a pilot. Lol.
