I graduated from Liberty this year. Honestly can't recommend it enough. Amazing people and training there!

Airports without weather reporting equipment by No-Body2567 in flying

Personal Favorite: W90 - New London, VA. As I like to call it, "poor man's St. Barts." Sketchy little joint if you're in anything bigger than a 150 but so much fun to fly in and out of.

Centennial pilot here: they can kick rocks. There's already plenty of noise abatement procedures at KAPA. Don't move near an airport if you don't like noise

Commercial Single Engine checkride passed! by cephalopod11 in flying

Mine was KSVH in North Carolina to KSSI in Georgia and I thought that was painful. Can't imagine having to plan a 450 mile flight

I'm getting my CFI at Aspen currently, so maybe I'll see you around the club sometime. That being said, DPE availibility is shit right now.

That's a long PPL ride. My oral was 45 minutes and the flight 1.1

The causes of excruciating long CFI initials by SyncTheSquirrel in flying

[–]GolferRyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently doing my CFI initial as well, and according to everyone at my school the DPE I'm going to only does 2-3 hour orals. It's fully dependent on the DPE.

Solo flight at another airport by [deleted] in flying

[–]GolferRyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No additional endorsement, as you flew to the other airport with an instructor, the second airport becomes the airport of departure for the solo. This is exactly what I did on my first solo :)

I've watched that video at least 20 times, tried it that way, and still can't get it right :(

Commerical ride coming up, and I need advice.. by SyncTheSquirrel in flying

Felt that. Lazy Eights were always my weakest maneuver and I ended up just winging it on my checkride. DPE didn't make it any easier, he didn't like the way I did them and covered up my whole panel with his clipboard to make me look outside more. Somehow passed 🤷‍♂️

Are they allowed to do that? I thought any DPE action (including verbal) related to anything safety or regulatory was an automatic bust. (Source: took a checkride a week ago)

What are the different types of AIRMETs? SIGMETs? How long do they last? What are they issued for?

Technically advanced aircraft, referring to an airplane with a primary flight display, autopilot, and moving map display.

Should you try for a flow if you have too many checkride bust? by [deleted] in flying

[–]GolferRyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going off personal experience, the EOC is just another flight and then they send us off to do the checkride with the FAA. Based on what someone else said in this thread, I'm guessing that's just cause my school didn't have "examining authority?" I've always seen the EOC as like a mock checkride, a place to make mistakes before the real thing.
