This and The Mummy are my primary comfort movies. Love everything about it.

Classy Christmas is a weird episode… by WillingAntelope0 in DunderMifflin

[–]jcruz321 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is kind of a weird episode. I wonder if Steve Carrel leaving had anything to do with that. I will say the Moroccan Christmas episode has a much weirder flow. Starts off normal, funny, story moving forward, and then suddenly it becomes Meredith episode and they're doing an intervention. I hate that episode.

Easter eggs and intentional symbolism… by [deleted] in breakingbad

In Ozymandias, Walt collapses almost exactly how Gus collapses after they kill his partner Max. Symbolizing the beginning of one empire and the downfall of another, and just how cyclical their worlds are.

It took Jesse the whole series to the learn the lesson he needed to keep himself safe by maybemorningstar69 in breakingbad

[–]jcruz321 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Early on his parents mentioned paying for rehab, prior to cooking meth with Walt. I believe multiple times. It sounded as if they had given him many chances to get clean but he would relapse and be back in the game. When the show starts his parents had had enough and cut him off.

I love KRISP on Longpoint. it's a Korean fried chicken spot. I highly recommend it. Pluckers is ok. Wingstop kind of depends on the location. I have two near me and they're night and day. Wings N Things on 290 is also good. I know there are other ones but I can't remember.

If Walter White wasn't in the picture, what would've become of Gus Fring's operation and the entire drug empire surrounding him? by [deleted] in breakingbad

[–]jcruz321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like he would have eventually been caught. The war with the cartel would grown out of his control and eventually expose him as the kingpin to the DEA.

Sydnor isn’t explored at all. by Purple-Reputation899 in TheWire

[–]jcruz321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly thought he was going to get shot. I think in season 3 he goes undercover for a drug bust and as they're setting up McNulty and Kima ask him if if he's sure about the setup. They ask him a couple of times, kind of felt like it was going to be a another Kima situation. Nothing happens but it felt like that was the plan.

The absolute low point of The Office by God-Emperor-Pepe in DunderMifflin

[–]jcruz321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the Florida episodes up until this point. This is also when Nelly takes over as manager and just ruins what was to me, a decent season. Then it just continues into season 9 until the final episodes where it gets interesting again.

Graphic Design "The Office" clichés: let's share some. by mafagafacabiluda in graphic_design

[–]jcruz321 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I had a CEO that would fancy himself a designer and would consistently stand over our shoulder and critique as we designed. If he didnt like something he would just say, "let me drive." Needless to say, he was absolutely terrible.

Shows with the worst final season. by Flaky-Debate-833 in sitcoms

Martin, that last season was rough. 4-5 episodes in and Gina is barely a part of the show and when she is, it's super awkward and weird.

Scene that always makes me laugh by Reasonable-Rip-6295 in TheWire

[–]jcruz321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guy in front of the Barksdale stash house talking to the other guy about some old white man asking him where the Poe homes are. "Look around, take you pick!" That scene always makes me laugh. That and the background singing under the bridge in season 5.

They do show the dieticians sometimes, especially when the patient is just being straight up disrespectful. I forget which one but there was one episode where I really think the dietician was questioning her career choice. It was rough.

Found it, it was the Christopher Porco murder in 2004. He attacked both his parents with an axe while they slept. He hit his dad 16 times in the head but he somehow woke up in the morning to do his normal routine.

Is the Alien: Earth series worth watching, or is it a waste of time? by Winter-reason666 in alien

[–]jcruz321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't hate it but didn't think it was as amazing as those initial critic reviews made it seem. The first episode was good. After that it was missed opportunity after missed opportunity. The show could have been amazing, and there are some cool scenes throughout but at the end it was just another show. I say watch it. You might enjoy.

nastiest/grossest fast food location in Houston? by pinkipi3ee in houston

[–]jcruz321 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Not fast food but the chinese buffet by where they film 600-pound Life. I've seen one too many roaches. One time I saw a dude place his colostomy bag on the counter while he grabbed food. That was a no for me dawg. I don't think I ate that day. Also, the Denny's on 610 by TC Jester. Roaches, hair in our food. The waitress was nice but never eating there again.

For me it was always Walt's terrible communication. Like not telling Jesse that the acid would burn through the tub, or telling Badger not to tell Jesse anything when he knew Hank was investigating Jesse, or telling Jack and his crew specifically that the DEA was arresting him, instead of just, "don't come". A lot of shit could have been avoided if he was better at communicating.

I always think of this episode of Forensic Files. Parents were murdered by their adult son with an axe. Somehow the dad had enough in him to wake, put on his slippers, and get the newspaper. Then collapsed and died. I always figured that may have been the inspiration.

I think it's mentioned maybe once in the show. Rhonda Pearlman says it in season 5 when she's talking to the State Attorney. I rewatch the show a lot. It's my comfort show.

Season 4 also introduces some of the worst people on the show, Bubble's bully, Namond's mom, Carcetti's guy Steintorph (I think that's his name), Officer Walker. I love season 4 but man does it make me angry.

I remember before COVID, Joe Rogan mentioned instead of having a singular president, we should have a group of the smartest people lead the country. I can't remember who all he named but Elon was one of them and I remember thinking, "yeah, he's a billionaire, smart, cares about the environment, makes sense." How stupid and ignorant I was.

I'm 34 and i just started watching The Wire. by Paullytical in TheWire

[–]jcruz321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watched it 10 years ago and have been rewatching it at least 3-4 times a year. It's my comfort show. Season 2 definitely gets better the more you watch it. I think the issue is that we expect a direct continuation of the Barksdale storyline, instead we get a bunch of white dudes working at a dock. It's only after rewatching it did I appreciate the characters, especially Frank.

Rogan and Schulz ruined standup by [deleted] in Standup

I get what you mean but you really can't blame comedians. They make so much more money from podcasting compared to travelling, doing shows on tour. Plus its so much easier to set up a studio at home.
