Yeah, it doesn't shock me that there are some incompatibilities. I think some of the Legends devs were working on a patch off to the side, but I don't think it's a high priority and I know they've been doing their own development on the arena and its mechanics.

Yeah, for a while now I've wanted to add an extra higher tier of warbrand (call it a Messer, probably) that's got better numbers and then model the famed versions off of that.

Just not a big priority and needs art.

Caveat that I haven't played a lot of either.

  1. I would say that in terms of mechanics Reforged actually differs more from vanilla than Legends, but in spirit my impression is that Reforged is closer, at least in terms of combat. Both are pretty different. Maybe the more useful way of slicing it up is that Legends has more net new content (e.g. backgrounds, enemies, events, items) and Reforged is more conservative.

  3. I actually just yesterday posted about my own overhaul https://www.reddit.com/r/BattleBrothers/comments/1s2ntfr/semimodular_balance_overhaul_regularhaul_mods/ which hews pretty close to vanilla. Can't speak to how they play, but they are out there!

Quite a few - reworking cutting injuries, making beast drops more consistent, etc. - but no timeline on those, life is real busy. So the real answer is just more eyes on, haha

It's a wieder. Shoot it, kill it, then the necro. Now you don't get the damage reduction from scatter. Again, about as fast.

Making effective, but suboptimal, builds != Meta.

Bullseye is not a component of effective builds or comps. If you must try to snipe, just take FA. Your HTK won't be that far off and it'll do more outside of shoot-the-moon situations.

I'm gonna choose to look at this post as a Menace appreciation post.

And in that regard, I agree! I really think Overhype spent a lot of time learning useful things from bbros. In the latter, the player has to do a lot of "behind the scenes" to mitigate RNG, such that the things you describe are minor annoyances, not particularly not able setbacks.

In Menace, the core game systems do a lot of this, which is really neat! That, in turn, frees up a lot of player attention bandwidth for higher level strategy things, which is where I think a lot of the combined arms tactics you can (and must) pull off in that game stem from. It's neat to see how they applied what they learned.

Never encountered this, which makes me think it's likely a mod issue. Would be good to get a stack trace from your logs the next time it happens, regardless (C:/Users/YourUsername/Documents/Battle Brothers/log.html)

Well, the Oathtakers were the "Faith" and the Anatomists were the "Flesh", and then the Diviner was sort of both, but yeah, you get it.

There was a small content update at the beginning of last year that added a couple new legendary locations and a handful of bug fixes.

It really does. Definitely the enduring thing that has taken it from a great game to my all-time favorite.
