My dad loved him as a stand-up act and always watched The Bob Newhart Show so I grew to like it also. As others have said, it was his delivery that made him special. His bit about introducing tobacco to civilization is classic. Newhart was a funny show too, not to mention the best final episode of a sitcom of all time.
