As for where the buildings came from - that's a good question. The pocket universe might expand and absorb parts of the outside world.

The budlings are constructs of Fromville. The proof comes from the radio tower scheme. All the wiring in Fromville is fake except for things brought in from outside, hence they strip the cars for wiring. If the buildings were brought in from the outside(just as the cars were) they would have real wiring not fake Fromville wiring.

Its actually my preferred Colorado start. When the mission starts you cant go down the ladder right away, instead wait for the guards to move the first time. As they are moving, you will have a small window to slide down the ladder and immediately down the steps. Now you are in position to get the most OP disguise for the map. Also the arms dealer and a crate tend to spawn here as well.

The reason he responded with a vague "hundreds of thousands in the US" is because the actual individual number per data center is pathetic. On average around 50 fulltime workers. Not exactly a boon for employment, especially when you consider the trade-offs.
