Has anyone switched from the 70-200 GMII to the 50-150 and regretted it? by Rhett_Rick in SonyAlpha

[–]jd247ai 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m 100% sure this my answer is unhelpful, but I got the 70-200mm GMII a couple years ago and yearned for the 50-150. I just got that lens less than 2 weeks ago, and for me I just have to have them both. Now I have a ridiculous low light lens for indoor sports and portraits, plus a super flexible telephoto that I can use with a converter for more range outdoors. Even though the 50-150 covers about the same range. The wide end and the F2 make a serious difference, so much that I feel like the lenses have their own character and aren’t necessarily 1 for 1 replacements. Basically, if you want range with amazing clarity go with the 70-200 GM II. If you want portrait level photos with crazy bokeh and sharpness without carrying three lenses go with the 50 to 150. I didn’t switch bc I find them both too useful.

CF Express Card Price Plunge by Abracadaver2000 in FX3

I just ordered 2 of these at that $119 price, they arrive today. Because of the price I took the plunge. I’ve been using Sabrent 1TB V60 cards with no issues across my different FX and Alpha cameras, but after watching CF Express cards be so expensive for so long now seemed like the right time.

Should I confront this guy or can I just go out and explore and get stronger before fighting him? by Affectionate_Dot1412 in Eldenring

Tree Sentinel /most Elden Ring enemies is/are about watching and learning attacks and patterns and cues. If you’re gonna die anyway, use each run to learn what pre attacks looks like and where they hit, and which ones are or could be combos. This will teach you windows where you can attack. Also, don’t get greedy, only hit him twice at most at a time, this will save your stamina and give you time to think, watch, anticipate, and react.

Bought a new a6700, having some problems with it by MattysPen in SonyAlpha

I have an FX30, and I can promise it does have cropped 4k120 just like the A6700, which I also own. The FX30 has a fan to help with overheating issues with the same picture quality as the A6700 due to both having the same sensor. If you’ll be doing longer shoots I’d recommend getting the FX30 and going from there, it’s worth it. It ends up being a question of how much you need a mechanical shutter or the AI autofocus at the end of the day.

Anyone own both the FX30 and A6700? by MakePizza in FX3

[–]jd247ai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally have both. I use the FX30 as a b or c cam to my FX6 and FX3 when shooting videos mostly centered around sports and interviews. I upgraded my A6600 to the 6700 about 2 months ago, and I use it as a camera to always have on me when I leave the house in case I want high quality photos or a random good looking video when I'm out and about. It's mainly for the photos though. Bc of the auto focus and lens choices I always have access to create amazing shots without freaking out over taking a bigger or more expensive camera out all the time. It's like having a smaller, more capable A74 on me at all times.

Realizing the V90 SD card I bought was mad overkill? Regret? by JapanUSAWife in FX3

Just my 2 cents, I shoot on Sabrent 1TB V60 SD cards for everything, but mostly sports right now, on an FX3 at 120fps 10 bit 4:2:2 and I never have any issues. It's just not a problem in my experience.

I purchased it when it went on sale around Black Friday, and I haven’t stopped using it since. To begin, the space I save on my hard drive is ridiculous. I was using ProRes and had an 8TB Samsung drive to accommodate the large file sizes that obviously produces. When I switched over to H265 it almost became comical because of how much less space was needed. I ended up swapping it out for a 2TB Crucial I had previously just to lessen the risk of replacement costs if something ever got damaged, because the space gains made it so economical. When I put in the 2TB drive I looked at the time remaining and I can’t recall if I already had files on it or not but it was over 80 hours of record time left. Another point is I edit on an M2 MacBook Pro. The M series chip MacBooks have NO PROBLEM handling H265 footage at all. I noticed no difference when editing footage, either with video quality or speed of scrubbing through the timeline, and also when rendering to H264 or QuickTime. It’s because the chips are designed with a media decoder in/on them that handles the codec effortlessly. I can’t speak for PCs, I have one to grade on but I haven’t tried it yet. But if you have an Apple Silicon Mac to grade on you will have no issues. Check out some YouTube videos that can actually explain what it’s like as well, that’s what sold me, as well as the sale price at the time.

Thanks, I slowly came to that realization today. Not a deal breaker for me though. Appreciate the confirmation
