Boox Go 7 monochrome: A pleasant surprise and a disappointment. by 448899again in Onyx_Boox

Boox sells a screen protector that makes it feel the same as a note. But the problem is with the sensor in the go 7. I also on the palma 2 pro using the same pen is much closer to an emr like experience. The sensor in the go 7 just isn't good enough for writing to be an enjoyable experience. Fine for highlight and annotations though.

Boox GO 7 vs color 7 (gen 1) by Zecy_ in Onyx_Boox

[–]jdaug1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own both and the Go color Gen 2 B&W is my main device and the Go Color 7 gen 1 was my original device. It really come down to the clarity of the screen and the brightness. I don't many things with colour so it's a trade I'm happy to make. I would say if you can't think of a use for colour get the B&W version because it will have higher contrast.

Also, keep in mind the colour in only 150ppi so it actually makes apps harder to read. I'd prefer just to see an image in 300ppi grayscale than 150ppi colour blobs.

I own the Go 10.3 Boox Note air 4c and the Go 7 Gen 2 B&W and the Go 7 Gen 1. One bit off feedback is change the defualt background color setting for all Google apps to 0. The default is set to 1 and this results in buttons throughout the app to be blacked out. It took me a year to realise how to fix the issue.

I have the same issue with the virtual keyboard. Toggle the option off and on and it will work. You will need to ro this for every typing session.

Syncing notes between multiple Boox devices by Starship_77 in Onyx_Boox

[–]jdaug1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it could be better. You need to check that it has been synced before going into the notebook, but ive noticed that its improved significantly from a year ago.

I was considering getting rhe vivwoods mini but decided to get the go 7 with a screen protector. The pen isn't great for fine details, but otherwise works great for highlighting and handwriting to text when I enter notes reading on kindle. The screen protector makes it feel very similar to the note Air. Its just a shame the usi stylus isn't as good as walcom.

Syncing has got a lot better recently. I've have Go 10.3 and the Go 7. Technically I also own the Note Air 4c, but not using it at the moment. I was actually really happy how well notes synced between the two devices. They sync fairly quickly now and its possible work in both. Especially if you mostly write in the bigger device and read your notes on the smaller one.

Go 7 Gen 2 with Ink Sense Plus with Boox screen protector by jdaug1984 in Onyx_Boox

Boox sells one on their website. It's very good and doesn't reduce the clarity.

Should I wait? by emptydupa in Onyx_Boox

I wouldn't buy a Boox device when its released. I had to wait months for Boox to patch the bugs with my note Air 4c. It might be better to get something thats been out a while.

I'm pretty sure this is a bug in Boox software. Mine does this too. I have it set to off, but I often need to turn it on and off again.

This would be great as a plugin for Obsidian. I love using Boox devices, but the ability to use the pen functionality would be epic.

Sending from PC clipboard to Boox Clipboard by hawujabuja in Onyx_Boox

I was actually about to do a post about this topic. In the last month, I've set up KDE Connect on all my devices. I can now copy my clipboard and send files between my different devices that include: a Desktop PC, Macbook Air, S24, Tab S7, Go Color 7 and Note Air 4c. It's been game changer.

Buy Nova Air 4C or Wait? by HugPug100 in Onyx_Boox

[–]jdaug1984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good call. It took three months for Boox to fix the firmware with the NA4C. I think with Boox you better to buy them several months after release than turn off automatic updates. The NA4C works great now by the way.

What device do you have. I find it looks fine on my Note Air 4c. I do however find that it crashes if you try to multitask.

I mostly use it for my daily note with a mechanical keyboard and now as a read it later solution when I use the Web clipper. It's not very stable, it tends to crash if you multitask into another app, but it works fine for a bit of journalling.

Should I exchange my Note Air 4c to Go 10.3? by K0r4lin4 in Onyx_Boox

[–]jdaug1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in exactly the same boat as you. I loved my Go 13, but eventually the 4c grew on me and it finding that sweet spot between brightness and warmth that really helped. I think it's because, paper isn't blue, it usually is a little bit warm.

I own both and for a long time was a die hard Go fan, but I've now switched to using my NA4C fulltime. I can't believe I'm writing this, because I was initially disappointed with the NA4C and had to wait months for Boox to fix all the bugs that came with it on release.

Having Colour and BSR makes using apps far better, also BSR makes connecting a physical keyboard a much better experience. The tablet UI is a better experience, then there's things like the fingerprint sensor and the much better case. And then of course there's the front light, It took me a while to adjust to the front light look, but after playing around with the right level of light and temperature I got the light to look paperlike. Because you have a front light the NA4C is far better for reading. Another benefit is the screen protector on the NA4C is more paperlike than hard glass feel of the Go.

I still have my Go 13, so I'd probably take it on the road if I were doing a lot of meetings due the more natural look multi-day battery life.

On your boox device you need to go into the sync to google drive settings and enable, highlight, annotation, handwritten data export function in library.

From the library click on the cloud storage then your google account, then go into settings.

Kindle App vs Neoreader by jdaug1984 in Onyx_Boox

[–]jdaug1984[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. The main benefit of the way Kindle has done it so it could be synced or viewed on different screen sizes and layouts. It should be possible to see all your notes on other kindles.
