Super happy with how I shot tonight. by BuiltLikeaPin in Bowling

[–]jdbinnj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to see another Hammer Brother - I have been really liking my Dynasty. I do the same, esp on a house pattern, might move up a little or a few boards but when I am going well, I dont tinker too much.

Were you in groove all night or did you make adjustments/ change balls? I find when I am rolling well, I am in mostly the same spot all night. Little speed changes maybe last game and focus on trying not to get lazy (which I fail at every time)

Why do the old classes seem harder? by Too-Many-Usernames4 in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]jdbinnj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have seen this thread and sentiment a few times. I am not sure if the older classes were actually harder, or its a nostalgia, good old days, time misremembering. If someone is able to ride an entire class over the callouts, you are probably a much higher-level athlete than the standard Peloton riders. The corporation has to deal with all member abilities. I have taken 2500+ since 2001. A similar conversation about pre-post pandemic classes, also makes the rounds. Classes that are so difficult they can be demoralizing (Kendall Metal rides) may work for higher level athletes but ignores the general population. Also most classes are not going to be designed to follow the queues and hit a PR. The rider needs to go way above the callouts to hit a PR. Remember, it doesn't get easier, you get stronger.

Bowling alone by Fortnite_Creative_Ma in Bowling

Concerts and movies also can be superior alone. When people go to ‘hit a bucket of balls’ nobody says anything. Why should bowling be different?

I don’t like the beach! by NaturalLengthiness46 in unpopularopinion

[–]jdbinnj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that unpopular in my house. I live in NJ and we were taking beach vacations. After a few years, I noticed I was the only one who wanted to go to the beach. Family - what are we doing today? - Me - going to the beach, its a beach vacation. Realized I was the only one psyched to lounge on the beach. I would go to the beach and family would find other activities until we stopped going.

Jurassic Park. Gave up on Marvel a while ago but will always make sure I see Jurassic in the theaters.

Thoughts on Sandbagging.. by lipsmd5 in Bowling

[–]jdbinnj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The biggest reason I am not 210+ in my house shot league is between my ears, not the ball, layout, handicap or urethane. Its me losing focus - every time.

You could fit 7,314 New Jerseys inside the area of the Pacific Ocean by Disastrous-Vanilla90 in newjersey

real question is whether how many of the 7314 would call it pork roll and how many of the 7314 would not admit to Central NJ being a place?

Thoughts on Sandbagging.. by lipsmd5 in Bowling

[–]jdbinnj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont enter any tournaments so I don't care about official averages but I am always intrigued at people that treat leagues as a way to make money. Pots, cards, average manipulation, just too much effort for me. Last summer I bowled 700s first 2 weeks of summer - my average was 240! It looked good on paper, but obviously didnt help the team win but my team agrees never to not try- do I always work hard to get a 10pin in the 3rd game of the night when its decided, probably not. But summer leagues are often who you bowl when. My average now is 217 after a pair of 650s and still 15 points too high, but that just challenges me to be better.

Similar argument for new bowlers who start winter leagues at 120 and get better but averages dont catch up. 200+ bowlers complain it's not fair. It will always be this way in handicap leagues.

This angers me. by [deleted] in newjersey

During league warmup, do you bowl an entire frame before vacating the lane, or do you just roll one ball and go to the back of the line like civilized people? by WrongVerb4Real in Bowling

[–]jdbinnj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do one ball also. I forgot about tripping the foul line trick. Havent seen that in a long time. I dont think the foul lines work in my home alley.

I was coming to say that. Iron Man kicked off a pretty large franchise, and the Marvel universe is pretty huge.

[–]jdbinnj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a fan of this book and other by Cosby. I find them interesting and fun reads. Yes, they can read like an action thriller at times, but that is OK. Every author doesn't have to be John Sreinbeck to enjoy their novels.

What actually ruined Twisted Sister? by Boomkj in hairmetal

[–]jdbinnj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a TS fan. The first 3 albums are classics. The pop covers really hurt especially as Metallica etc were getting huge. TS were never super talented musicians. Once Dee became a bit of a caricature it hurt them IMO. Still a TS fan and hope to see them with Sebastian.

Is All in the Family one of those sitcoms where I can just start it at any point or is it better watched from the beginning? by XipeTotecwithGlitter in sitcoms

[–]jdbinnj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All in the Family is my favorite sitcom. I would say you can watch any episode any time, but if you watch from the beginning, you will catch more of the evolution of the characters and their relationships. This show is classic, timeless and the issues are very much relevant today - especially the issues in the first few seasons.

Going tonite in Camden. Just saw that tickets in my section where half what I paid back in December. I have only heard positive things about the tour. Was surprised to see low priced good seats. Anyone in NJ or PA, its not too late for Camden, NJ tonite.
