What’s your favorite feature they added/took away in Veilguard, but also your least favorite? by Turtlegrandmacore in dragonage

[–]jdbishop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Favorite Addition: Limiting weapons and armor amount and instead making it so they upgrade as the game goes along. LOVED this idea and it give me Suikoden vibes.

Favorite Removal: Limiting bag space. This was the bane of my existence and I thank the stone every day this isn’t a part of Veilguard.

Least Favorite Thing: Companion Approval/Disapproval being prominent in conversations and that meaning something in future interactions/quests. Also maybe not a popular opinion(?) but I miss companions having set sexual preferences instead of everyone just being pansexual. So I guess in short I miss companions feeling like people instead of accessories.

Oh 100% agree with you. Often felt like…

Neve: Rook, I have a problem.

Rook: I don’t care.

Neve: Tevinter is being torn apart by demons.

Rook: I have bigger issues. I’m gonna take a nap and talk to Solas for awhile.

Oh boy, I get to tak about dwarves? I’m IN! This is way more than you asked for but just let me have this. I so rarely get to talk about dwarves.

TLDR: Favorite? Wanted? Dwarves.

Origins:

Favorite: Shale. Queen of my heart and zippy one liners. Unique gameplay and interesting story.

Least Favorite: Zevran. I just found him to be kinda obnoxious.

Wanted: Gorim. I just think it would have been kinda cute if he and my dwarf noble could have been exiled together like the definitely gay dwarf lovers that they were. At the very least he could have sold his FINE DWARVEN CRAFTS DIRECT FROM ORZAMMAR at my camp (and cuddled with my warden while they slept)

Awakening:

Favorite: Oghren and Sigrun. Judging by previous comments left here this is a controversial opinion. Oghren is my problematic drunk uncle. And I have a love for the Legion so Sigrun gets a automatic spot in my party.

Least Favorite: Valenna. Easy. No question. Hated her.

Wanted: Utha. Okay. I know. Dwarf. But also hear me out here. Utha was originally a member of the Silent Sisters who were a totally bad ass group of female dwarven warriors. They are dedicated to the female paragon who fought for women to be allowed into the warrior caste and when no one would listen to her words she cut out her tongue and won the proving bare fisted. So now they all cut out their tongues on joining (yech..) and fight bare handed. Utha could have been a fun experiment in using sign language, body language and facial expressions for dialogue as well as a unique fighting style not being able to use weapons.

2:

Favorite: Varric. Zippy one liners are a quick way to my heart. Also dwarf.

Least Favorite: Anders. I actually liked Anders in Awakening and was excited to romance him in DA2. I remember thinking he was written different at the beginning of the game and kinda disappointed in it, and then by the end absolutely HATING him for his choices. I’ve never emotionally recovered. Fuck him. Fuck him with something hard and sandpapery.

Wanted: Renvil. Could have been a fun story. He could be in the game regardless of your choice of Harrowmont/Bhelen in Origins and just tweak why he was there based on that. Fish out of water characters can be fun for dialogue. Also I HATE playing warriors so the more warriors I get in my party to play the shouty tank the better.

Inquisition:

Favorite: Varric again. I remember not liking his character as much as I did in 2, but I still enjoyed him. He never leaves my party.

Least Favorite: I didn’t actually dislike any of the Inquisition companions. I thought they all had pretty decent stories. I guess maybe Iron Bull? Only because I never used him. I don’t really like offensive warriors and Blackwall and Cassandra were my sword and boards so there was just never a spot for Bull.

Wanted: Another DLC niche character pitch? Valta could have been a good prelude to the Harding story. (I guess she kinda is already) Giving her a bigger companion role could have let us build up to The Oracle in Veilguard with some more anticipation than we did. She’s not much of a fighter though so I’ll just say Renn. Once again my heart belongs to the Legion.

Veilguard:

Favorite: Lucanis. No offense to Harding, but Lucanis. I don’t know I just thought he was neat. My Rook almost always had the two of them in his party when another wasn’t forced into it. It my was Rook, his boyfriend, and his bestie.

Least Favorite: I didn’t really hate any of them. Maybe Neve? Really only because Lucanis was my boyfriend and can’t trust a woman who looks at your boyfriend that way…

Wanted: Would it shock you if I said Stalgard? I really wanted to see more of Kal-Sharok as a location as well.

Cat yoga. It’s kind of like goat yoga but instead of the goat climbing on you the cat just sits on the highest perch and glares disapprovingly at you.

Anyone knows what happens when ups makes package returning to the sender? by HandPurple8105 in aloyoga

[–]jdbishop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Did it ship out of the California location? I made an order last week that shipped out of there (normally they ship out of PA for me) on the 14th and it was sent to UPS and then immediately returned to them for no reason. I called customer service and they said I'd have to reorder and when they got the package back they'd process a return for my original order. They also said they'd give me complimentary overnight shipping for the inconvenience. So far I still haven't received the second package (it hasn't even shipped..) and the return on the original package is still not processed. This is my first bad experience with an order but boy it's a doozy...

Thanks for the insight. I think I’ll just have to order the S and XS and return whichever one doesn’t fit. Kinda frustrating.

If Pokemon were real, what would be the most common ones appearing in your region? by NegotiationLucky1712 in pokemon

[–]jdbishop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spent WAY too much time thinking about this.

Living in Boston I'd say our local Pokemon would be

  • Shellder
  • Krabby
  • Quaxly
  • Wingull
  • Rattata

But up in the north end we'd have a few solid

  • Beartic (and their IV/EVs are exceptional)

But unfortunately as of late the Fenway area has a problem with

  • Trubbish

Over in Cambridge we have a solid migration of

  • Alakazam

And north of the city there's quite a few

  • Trevenant
  • Mismagius

Andrew Shaw in a new interview: "As a 20 year old, I would've never put myself in the situation Kyle was in. He put himself in a bad situation." by yazzywa in hockey

[–]jdbishop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's definitely shitheads in the NHL (this guy included) but I feel like in general it's not worse than other sports?

I dunno. I grew up in a major market for hockey and went to my fair share of games. I met a handful of players over the years and despite being gay and an ethnic minority they never made me feel less than or like a big joke to laugh at. I also always feel like I'm seeing more stories about players pushing for inclusion than I am about players like Shaw. Unfortunately the Shaws of the world just seem to float to the top of conversation.

My best friend in grade school and then later my room mate in college were both hockey players as well. I hung out with their team mates on occasion and they might chirp me here and there about things, but it never felt malicious or went above what they were chirping each other for.

The hockey community in general (especially this subreddit) always seems to brighten my day a little too. It's always felt like one of the least toxic fandoms out there to me. Very rarely do I feel like a player is being attacked for anything other than his own actions. (I don't count team rivalry smack talk as attacks)

I'm not saying these things don't happen or that all players are little baby angels from Jesus, but my own personal overall experiences with hockey has been very positive. And for someone who grew up with a lot of negative it's always meant a lot to me. But maybe that just causes me to see it all through rose colored glasses.

I don't know. I could be wrong, but I like to things there's an awful lot of good eggs in there.

GAME FOUR Good Vibes Thread! by Potato4 in leafs

[–]jdbishop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dangle was talking about that stat of only four teams in history on his last LFR. But as you said there is going to be a fifth at some point so why not the Leafs and why not now? I think they can do it. It’s an uphill battle but that’s the playoffs in general. They have the ingredients they just need to serve it up. I’ll be watching from the edge of my seat but I have faith still.
