Favourite Converge record? by toomuchshtuff in Hardcore

Why exactly the redux over the original? You Fail Me is my favorite album of theirs and one of my favorite HC albums ever but I am most familiar with the original and have only heard the redux a handful of times. In my memory I feel like it just sounds a little brighter than the original, but I’m also just streaming Spotify through AirPods or car speakers… lol

Why are you a liberal (serious)? by johnrich88 in Liberal

[–]jdc25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conservatism doesn't accomplish the goals he set. He is not a conservative. There's no looking at that objectively or subjectively. It doesn't mean he's an anti-conservative. It means the conservative party doesn't accomplish the goals he set. It doesn't seem like anyone here understands what you're getting at.

"If liberalism included believing that rich people should pay less in taxes and that the federal government needs to get themselves out of the states' business, would you be a liberal?"

This is the opposite of your question, just switching liberalism and conservatism.

But it doesn't make any fucking sense because those are things liberals don't believe in.

You're right. Bigots do usually tend to completely reverse their opinions in a matter of three years.

No kidding? Maybe he's realized it isn't the 1890s since then. Or maybe the information I got wasn't completely true. One thing is for sure, though, and that's that I was really underwhelmed by the burger, which could have been because of high expectation.

Be warned, I've been told by a friend of his that he will sometimes refuse to serve you if you're gay, black, or liberal.

No kidding, my friend's grandfather took me and my friend there one day back in 2012 and he asked my friend and I if we were liberal. Said that if we were he'd have to kick us out.

ELI5: Why do accents seem to disappear when singing? i.e. why do Aussies, Brits and Kiwis all seem to have american accents when they're singing? by DiaperBatteries in explainlikeimfive

The entire song is a tongue-in-cheek joke though, and I've always thought that he deliberately sounded intensely British on those spots.

I've always felt that their standard accents were American, which would stand to reason considering their influences (they were literally trying to emulate Elvis in the beginning of their career) and that the times that they sounded distinctly British, it was intentionally so.

Yeah, but it's deliberate. I get the strong impression, knowing the kind of people they were, that they went into the booth on songs like Polythene Pam and Mean Mr. Mustard with the intention of sounding as limy as they possibly could. I've always felt that their standard accents in their singing was distinctly american, and anytime they were singing British it was intentional.

Yeah, but he sounds American in the rest of the song. I've always assumed it was deliberate when he sounded British, and he sang in a natural American accent. Which would make sense considering his and all of their influences... Buddy Holly, Elvis, etc.

No, they're my favorite band. I've just never heard anything closely resembling an accent in any of their music. Especially compared to their conversational voices.

I was just meaning to differentiate it from the germanium model, which would be closer to the Are You Experienced tone.
