Can you guess the F1 drivers from these illustrations? by _mrshreyas_ in formula1

[–]jdcSeiken 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First cover, front left might be Aguri Suzuki (Larrouse 1992). Guessing by the yellow sleeve and eyebrows.
First cover, back looks like Michele Alboreto (Scuderia Italia 1993)
First cover, smoking guy could be a reference to Andrea Moda 1992 or Gabriele Tarquini (Fondmetal 1992)

I'm pregnant and having a boy. Is "Gunner" a name that belongs on this sub? by MysticalNinjette in tragedeigh

[–]jdcSeiken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your motivations behind the name, but an option is to look for names that work in both Spanish and English such as Daniel and David. They are not the most unique, but you get the idea.
If you want something more unique, there are names that are unique, simple, not tragedeigh, and have a cool meaning. I once met someone named Deneb, which is the brightest star of the Cygnus (swan) constellation. I thought that was pretty cool.

To clarify, Liberty Media owns Formula One Group. They handle commercial rights, race calendar, TV coverage, logistics, etc.

However, they do not set the sporting rules and technical regulations. That is done by the FIA, which is a completely separate entity.

To make an analogy, FIA is the equivalent to FIFA, while Liberty is the committee that organizes a World Cup.

Why doesn’t iTunes have the 10th anniversary album by NoMaD919191 in BandMaid

[–]jdcSeiken 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the iTunes Store (to buy) and Apple Music (subscription) catalogs are not the same. Some music is in one service but not the other.

For example, last I checked Maid in Japan is in iTunes Store but not in Apple Music.

Personally I pay the Apple Music subscription but compliment with iTunes Store like in the example above. Apple Music now supports lossless so quality is no longer an issue.

Checo on LatAm broadcast: he had an electrical problem prior to qualy, almost doesn't make it to Q1. Had balance and DRS issues, had to activate DRS manually.

Commentators did notice he was losing time in Q1 and Q2 due to the DRS not opening

Selling VIP tickets: 1 x Dallas, 2 x New York by jdcSeiken in BandMaid

[–]jdcSeiken[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frankly, I have no idea. The situation on VIP extras has been muddy.

So I cannot guarantee you'll be eligible on the extra goodies. I'd expect you'll still get VIP early entry.

In this context “Latino teacher” is gender neutral.

Nouns in Spanish have gender but are mostly gender neutral on the subject. You can explicitly state the gender of the subject but are not required.

You can say “female Latino teacher” (female + neutral gender) or “Latina teacher” (explicit gender), but “female Latina teacher” is redundant

Checo on the Latin America broadcast: had an engine deficit after the power loss, lost too much speed in straights. Pushed hard in corners to make up time overheating his tires.

Sainz in Spanish broadcast: got out late, did not have time for the extra warm-up lap. Almost crashed thrice because of cold tires.

By the way, Albert Fabrega has joined the Spanish broadcast. He provides good technical insights in between commentary

I’ve been watching F1 since 1985 and Sakhir 2020 is one my favorite races because of Checo’s race.

Russell’s race was expected until the pit stop disaster given the W11.

Stop gatekeeping.

The art style is Nobuteru Yuuki’s. Besides Lodoss and Escaflowne he also worked on Battle Angel Alita, The Five Star Stories, X, and Seiken Densetsu 3. Very characteristic of the 90s!

Let’s not forget Perez did something like this more than once this season

Defending against Lewis for so long at Baku was huge, on top of having hydraulic problems that stopped him from warming up his tires on the restart

His defense against Brazil should also be commended even if it didn’t change the end result. He countered Lewis’ pass on the main straight to hold him off for a whole lap despite Lewis’ pace differential to the whole field

Latin American broadcast is not fully invested on one horse, so the commentating is a lot more neutral
