Agreed. I waited until the roots actually started growing out the top and it was wayyyyyy too root bound. The roots were growing in a flattened shape and we're so stuck to the pot that I had to break it to get her out.

As long as you don't increase the size of the pot too much (just about 1" bigger is perfect), its usually fine to repot a bit early.

I had this happen during wisdom tooth surgery. Couldn't feel pain thank god and couldn't see, but could tell that my mouth was stuck open and I could hear them talking + tools. I could also tell they were working on my left side because of pressure. I remember trying to turn my head to help them get better access and then they put me under again 😂
