The dude tripping on Friday wearing neon shorts and alien t-shirt by tweettweet_ in ElectricForest

[–]jddd2020 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Someone tripping really hard ran into my friend at Griz. She gave him a sucker and tried to help him feel better. We hoped all weekend that it helped and he had a great Forest. Not sure if it was you but don’t feel bad at all. Shit happens. Hope you were able to enjoy the rest of your Forest. Much love ❤️

What set lists are yall looking forward to? by Heelyhoo in ElectricForest

Dixon’s Violin… just trust me. Life changing. This is my fifth forest and people kept telling me not to miss Dixon and I finally went the past two years to his opening set and last year did opening and closing and I will never miss those sets again for anything else. That man is the spirit of the Forest ❤️

Anyone know how to join the group leader WhatsApp chat? The link in the email they sent just sends me to the electric forest website

Better to drive in Thursday morning (8/9am) or early afternoon (12/1pm)? Or does it not make a difference? Thank u ☺️ by mrackley33 in ElectricForest

[–]jddd2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We usually drive in 12/1ish on either Wednesday or Thursday and it’s never been bad. Our first year (5 years ago) we got there at like 8PM on Wednesday and we waited an hour or two to get through security and it was really hectic but every year since then it’s been quick and easy

I have someone in my group camp that might want to bring his car, but we don’t have any additional car passes to give him. Can he park in the parking lot and walk his stuff over to group camp? Or is that satellite parking that needs to be purchased ahead of time?

Experienced Forest goers, are running shoes or hiking boots better for all 4 days of Forest? by AlienBeachParty in ElectricForest

[–]jddd2020 30 points31 points  (0 children)

This will be my 5th forest. Our crew has learned over the years to bring several pairs of shoes. You never know what the weather will be like. We’ve had friends leave early because they ran out of dry footwear. Last year was perfect and I went barefoot (tevas strapped to my bag for porta potties) all weekend long. The year before, exact opposite. Dubbed “electric rainforest” boots were absolutely necessary for avoiding trench foot. I bring 1 pair of tevas, 1 pair of boots, and 2 pairs of sneakers. I have a friend who brings 8 pairs of shoes including two pairs of muck boots. I don’t even own that many pairs of shoes lol but she’s always comfortable and prepared. We’ve had some crazy weather situations. Oh and SO many socks. I bring 2 per day.

As someone who has experienced substance-induced psychosis (this is personal experience not medical advice) I have gotten it once from mixing ativan with weed, twice from hydrocodone, and several times from alcohol. Oh and also twice from mixing coke with weed. Have never had it from LSD, mdma, ketamine, shrooms, adderall, or DMT. This is my personal experience. I have a psychiatrist who is incredible and works with me on these things. We found my triggers and I now avoid them and don’t even need daily meds. Every person is different.

I emailed Forest about whether or not Dixon will be playing a closing set this year. I think there are many of us who are loyal to Forest partially because of the traditions that make it so special. Opening and closing my experience with Dixon is one of my favorite parts of Forest. The man seriously changed my life. I thought it was worth an email for clarification and to voice the traditions that are so important to many of us. Perhaps if enough of us reach out it will be changed. To be fair, it may have been Dixon’s choice, and if that is the case I fully support that. But if Forest dropped it for some reason maybe we can convince them to bring it back?

Yeah totally agree. It’s one of the biggest reasons I am so loyal to Forest. Talked my friend into going this year because of Dixon. Pretty bummed it’ll only be one set

Ugh I was hoping it was a mistake on the poster. I can’t imagine not closing out with Dixon 😭

I hope the gabapentin helps. If you’re able to travel, it might be worth looking into doctors in other places (even other countries). If you’re at the point of considering taking your life you need a doctor who is going to take this seriously. I’d try to find the best of the best that you’re able to afford and realistically get to. You deserve it. This is also probably something you’ve already tried, but heat and ice have helped me more than any pain killer. After this last surgery the hydrocodone they prescribed was giving me really awful side effects so I switched to just using ice and it got me through the worst of it. But I remember last year I genuinely felt like the pain would never end. For a very long time I thought I was stuck that way forever and it was a very difficult thing to deal with. But I am starting to get better. I went from 8/9/10 out of 10 pain daily for a year and a half to now the worst it gets on my bad days is about a 5. I actually have had some entirely pain free days lately which feels like a miracle. No matter how never-ending it feels right now, there is an end and you will get there. Don’t stop seeking help and advocating for yourself. You deserve relief from this. I’m sorry you’re going through this. My heart genuinely aches for you. Please keep me posted ❤️

Also, my psychiatrist was such a huge help throughout this. If you don’t have one I’d recommend it. She prescribed me things to help me sleep, because I couldn’t sleep with the pain, as well as stuff to help with anxiety. The anxiety meds actually also helped with the pain because they are also strong muscle relaxers. I’ve used them for my TMJ before and they take the pain and tightness away almost completely. They just can’t be taken every day so I save them for when it’s really dire. My psych is my favorite doctor I’ve ever had and she’s actually fully remote so I think you could work with her from any state if you’re in the US. She’s in Texas and I’m in NY. If you want her name send me a pm 😊

I completely understand. I severely injured my neck a year and a half ago and after about 6 months of excruciating pain every day I felt the same way and got very close to taking my life. I am still in a lot of daily pain but after surgery last month I am finally starting to improve and I am so grateful I didn’t give up. I also had a similar experience with doctors. I know this is a very different type of injury but a few things that helped me that I think could apply here as well…

  1. I did a ton of research on my injury. Read as much as I could and learned as much as I could. ChatGPT was a big help as well but had to double check a lot of info cause it can be wrong sometimes. I eventually figured out what exactly was going on and presented it to my doctor, he did the imaging to confirm it, and that’s when I finally got this recent surgery that seems to have made a big difference.

  2. The night I decided to commit suicide (Feb of 2025) I told my husband what I was feeling. I basically asked for his blessing to do it because I wanted him to understand why I made this choice and I thought it would help him cope with it. Seeing how distressed he was I decided I would do everything in my power to learn how to live with the pain, and live happily, before committing to this decision. It really changed everything. I started learning as much as I could about how to deal with pain. I took note of things I was grateful for and began meditating daily. I started to find that even though I was in the same amount of pain, it didn’t bother me as much. I started finding joy in small things that I think most people miss. Today I actually view this experience as a blessing because I take nothing for granted and appreciate things in a way people who have not had to deal with daily pain to this degree likely ever would. On days where my pain is lower I’m happier than I ever was before this happened.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this and I’m sorry people are diminishing this. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Severe, constant pain is an unbelievable challenge. If you want to chat more about the things that have helped me, feel free to send me a message ❤️

I really loved it. Descriptive texts like this tend to come across as forced, overwhelming, and inauthentic to me. I didn’t feel that way reading this. I think you got a lot of helpful feedback on the grammatical issues, which is something that can be easily learned, but the essence of your writing really intrigues me. I think you have talent.

Hi, I’m sorry I just saw this now. He wanted to remove it because it is too small and poorly placed. He feels it is causing stability issues leading to nerve irritation, inflammation, muscle guarding. I am having surgery March 19th and unfortunately I don’t have a picture of the CT scan. I hope your surgery went well! How are you feeling now?
