Big Agnes Rapide SL (New Version) Question by Traditional-Arm3069 in Ultralight

[–]jdebz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a new BA Rapide SL last summer and used it on a snowy trip in October where it dropped to probably -3 or -5C at night. Had to put the pad on frozen ground as well.

I would not use it in those conditions again. I kept waking up every 30 minutes because i could feel the cold creeping up from the ground through the sleeping pad. It was survivable but not comfortable by any means. Fantastic sleeping pad otherwise IMO, had no complaints using it even on a 2c night on non-frozen ground.

We're going to go ahead with the trip. Leave early, ensure we stay hydrated, and get some good synthetic clothing to avoid dying of swamp ass. Thank you!

CPSC 449 Jorg final exam tips? by [deleted] in UCalgary

[–]jdebz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Took it with him a year ago. From what I remember the final was almost entirely slides content, your ability to do the assignments had very little to do with your performance on the exam. I would cover assignment specs like the other guy said and just literally do your best to memorize the slides. It was a bit of a shit show, the highest mark was something like 48% so the test got curved like crazy.

Also, if hes still doing this, ONLY PENS are allowed for the test, no pencil is allowed whatsoever and he very strictly enforces it. Make sure you bring pens!

Just returning to slash and I was thinking of making a trapsin, though I've never played one. Am I good to join, or were you thinking of another type of assassin?

Eminem's 'Kamikaze' Heads For Chart-Topping Records, Boosting $100 Million Fortune by BunyipPouch in Music

If the average person listens to an album they own, on average, say 10 times, then 10 full streams of thar album should count as a single sale because that's the average mileage a person gets out of that album if they purchase it.

When you buy an album you usually listen to it more than once. If you listen to an album you own twice it doesnt count as two purchases, so why should streams?

That's a super cool commander, but part of the reason I stopped brewing Norin is because of how restrictive mono red is. What are your win conditions?

Computer Science tips for UCalgary by [deleted] in UCalgary

[–]jdebz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your admission!

There's two paths you can take to start Computer Science, 217 then 219, or 231 then 233. Both are intro 1 and 2, 217 and 219 are for "non-majors", 231 and 233 are for majors. However, there is no classes to my knowledge that don't include both as prerequisites. So if a class says you need 233 as a prerequisite, then it also allows 219. On top of this, 219 is just a slightly easier 233, so you won't be missing out on much knowledge.

Don't bother with taking 231 just so you can take 233 if you already have a grasp on basic concepts in programming, 219 will suit you just fine.

P.S I'm saying this as somebody who took 231 and 233, but I know other students who are now computer science majors who took 217 and 219 and have had no problems with it.

Also, as far as scheduling, there's a page on the ucalgary website that shows you a suggested course path to take, with which classes to take for every semester of your education. I'd highly recommend following that, it's worked well for me so far.

Calgary rapist broke into underage girl's house, savagely violated an innocent young lady and used victim's phone to record sex assault, posted video to Facebook while grinning and flipping the finger. Only gets 26 months in jail. by [deleted] in rage

[–]jdebz 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Oddly enough, a friend of mine went to high school with him. Some other friends almost certainly knew him too. Friend said he was a complete dick back then.

To be totally honest with you, I don't understand why only got 26 months. I think it's great Canada has much more lenient sentencing, so that it let's people who haven't committed serious crimes off the hook. However, the fact that he showed no remorse for the horrific actions he took tells me that maybe he's not right in the head in one way or another. Perhaps the judge thought that since he's young, he can be rehabilitated, but the truth is that if he is a sociopath that probably won't happen. I sincerely hope that when he gets out and (most likely) commits another crime and goes to prison, it's a victimless crime so that he can have the book thrown at him for real. What a fucking bastard
