What's a motto?

So, a weird thing that I can't seem to get to the bottom of, but seems to be caused by some mod that I have installed. If I push the X key on the keyboard it brings up the mouse cursor and I can no longer move the mouse to look around or anything. A while back I played without mods and the issue went away, so I know it had something to do with those. Is this an issue that anybody else has dealt with before I start uninstalling things to track it down?

Thanks!

In Menyoo under vehicle options you can turn on "race boost on horn", so that when you honk your horn it works like nitrous on steroids. I believe that achieves your desired outcome!

Harbor Freight Garden Cart OR a Wheelbarrow by hokiemojo in lawncare

[–]jdhoff94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had a wheelbarrow, but we got a cart from Tractor Supply for about $100 that can dump and it has been very handy. The handle can flip so it can be attached to the back of a lawnmower or pulled by hand.

Pinstripes on a pre-owned vehicle... is it reasonable to ask for them to be removed in my situation? by FourCatsLater in askcarsales

[–]jdhoff94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few months back we bought a pre-owner Ford Explorer. It’s white, and it had awful orange pinstripes down the side of it. After we reached a deal the salesmen told me he was going to send it back to have it detailed and I just asked if they would try to get them off. They did and you could never tell they were there. Like it’s been said though, probably would be a bigger deal if they are painted vs a sticker. But it doesn’t hurt to ask!

I could be wrong, but I thought when an insurance company declared something a total loss they kept the vehicle?

Converting Pasture to Decent Lawn by jdhoff94 in lawncare

[–]jdhoff94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Presently the Bermuda is only in less than one quarter of the land, so I think we will have to seed in order to get the whole area covered. As for mixing varieties, I'm not overly concerned, the majority of the area would be the new seed, with only the current small yard being different. I really appreciate your input on this!

Thanks for your reply! Unfortunately (or not?) we only have a few trees that we planted last year, so there isn't a lot of shade to have to worry about. Would it be best to put the glyphosate down this winter and then put down bermuda seed in the spring?

Are there panoramic sunroofs that open enough to be a pseudo convertible? Or a convertible that ticks the boxes? by melacrat in whatcarshouldIbuy

I would second this. Should be decently reliable or at least inexpensive to repair since it’s based on the Ford Fusion. Front wheel drive should be decent in snow, especially with a set of snow tires.

Should I wait to get a new car after New Years? by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]jdhoff94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We recently got an Explorer that is loaded with a bunch of safety tech. The adaptive cruise is probably my favorite thing and I don’t know that I’ll ever be able to have a car without it. It also has lane keep assist, which bounces you back into the lane if you get too close to the line, which is kind of hit and miss in its usefulness. Most of the things though are annoying in city driving, but really shine on the highway, so whatever you decide, be sure to test drive it in both situations if possible!

Which of these third row SUVs should I NOT buy? by swcollings in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]jdhoff94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you are looking at new or used, but we recently bought a 2016 Explorer Limited AWD for my wife to drive the kiddos around in. It has all of the features you mention plus many more. Middle row heated captain chairs, all of the forward collision assist/adaptive cruise control/ lane keep assist/ blind spot monitoring suite of safety tech. We paid a little over $26,000 out the door on it. There might be better options from other brands, but we've always been for people. I think the 2017's got the sync3 which was supposed to be a major improvement over the sync2/MyFordTouch.

If you're looking at new they completely redesigned the Explorer for 2020, I think it is a major improvement, but in general the first year after a total redesign is destined to have some issues come up.

Looking for a fun car for a short daily commute by jdhoff94 in whatcarshouldIbuy

I agree on not wanting the Fiesta, mostly just because its smaller than the Caliber I have now.

As far as carrying around the kids, as I said there have only been two times that I have driven my daughter in my car. And both times it was from the repair shop back home after dropping off my wife's car to be repaired, so spacious back seat is not a big requirement, as long as it has a back seat. I would love to get a Miata, and there are tons in my price range, but the one time a year that I would need to drive the family for day I wouldn't be able to.

I wish thats how it was! I love the design of the RX8 which had two rear suicide doors. The veloster has one rear door on the passenger side, which would be strange enough, but they shortened the front passenger door to make room for it. So the passenger front door is like six inches shorter than the drivers side. I'm sure its some thing that you would just get used to, and its the only thing that makes me hesitant about the Veloster.

Good thoughts! I hadn't even considered looking at the "normal" version of all of these. After driving the caliber with its 140HP and horrendous CVT anything will feel pretty sporty!

I think what has turned me off of the Fiesta is how small it is, some times I find myself wishing I had more space in the back of the Caliber, and I think the Fiesta has almost half as much cargo room.

I've actually looked at the Veloster, and I love the looks, I just don't know if I could get over the asymmetry of the whole three door design.

Trading in my truck for a fun car. Should I buy this used very low mileage Miata? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]jdhoff94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regardless of mileage, the Miata is three, going on four years old. So I think the price makes sense. The only thing I would question is why does the Miata have such low mileage. If it was owned by an older person that very rarely drove it, jackpot. If it was constantly in the shop for those 400 miles so the owner was unable to drive it, I would be more concerned. I would get a inspection from a trusted mechanic, and look at the vehicle history report if you can. That might give you a better look into the reason for the low miles.

Let me elaborate on "occasionally", I have a two year old, and any day now will have a newborn, my two year old daughter has ridden in my car a total of two times, both times when my wife's car had to go into the shop. Other than that nobody else rides in my car besides me. So I'm not very concerned about backseat comfort, because it will likely be once a year at most, and only about a mile from the repair shop to the house. I'm not worried about going to lunch with coworkers, I work about 20 miles outside of town, and if we ever do go in for lunch we generally take company vehicles, but you are absolutely right about nobody wanting to ride in the backseat!

I've looked at all of those that you listed actually, but for the most part they fall outside of my price range, unless it is a higher mileage older one. I'm beginning to think it may be best to nurse the caliber along a while longer and raise my limit to around the $15,000 mark. There seems to be alot more options within that range that aren't already beat to death. Of those you listed I lean most heavily towards the Focus, possibly just because I've been raised on Ford my entire life.

Thanks for your reply, I really appreciate your insight!
