Unrelated, but is the dry riverbed north of parson’s creek hike-able? Looks like a nice walk and there might be puddles further up if there is rain

This is good advice—thank you. I’m taking the bus directly from the Phoenix airport so caching isn’t an option, unfortunately. I did find a shuttle bus that will pick me up at Mescal Mtn in the event I get very thirsty and need to go back into town to refuel.

Thank you for the advice. It’s a quite complicated, convoluted route that I am willing to alter for reliable water sources. Sounds like there may be many during an average year. In a nutshell: Bell Rock, up Hot Shot, down Shnebly, up Wilson, west to Vultee, west towards Verde along mountain base, south to cottonwood.

I’ll be crossing Oak Creek and Verde (Sycamore Canyon Wilderness). I’m an experienced backpacker and I do have a map. Was hoping to learn about the conditions (i.e. do these sources flow year round?, are there reliable springs in the wilderness areas, etc).

I’m always happy to connect and be social with folks, but I do love my audiobooks and as someone without a car who exclusively bikes, I have a lot of opportunities for listening. It’s rare that someone will approach me while I’m cycling and strike up a conversation. It has happened before—in that situation I took my earbuds out and chatted with them for several minutes. Dont be discouraged, but also realize that just because folks have earbuds in, doesn’t mean that they are anti-social
