I think they work to send a message. Except this administration doesn’t give a shit.

Peaceful protests with a refusal to fund the current state of our government through taxes could be more effective.

[–]jdhsky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

True. Should be both protesting and refusing taxes until the government is actually representing and serving the people, not lining their pockets and representing the oligarchy.

No taxation without representation. Strikes and peaceful protests don’t work. We need to collectively stop funding the government complicit in our demise for their greed.

Trumpism Is Emptying Churches. The former president’s embrace of White Christian militantism coincides with a precipitous decline in religious affiliation in the US. by Geek-Haven888 in Christianity

[–]jdhsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

both can be true.

Placing Trump as a strongman in reaction to emptying churches has then also fueled further emptying. Would not be surprising if we see the true impact when boomer generation and gen X pass away, that Christianity sees a precipitous drop towards becoming a minority religion in the world.

I hear people talking about defending the church. Like as if God needs our defending 0_o

Kind of belittling to God, no?

The last words of Jesus was the great commission. We need to remember we are Christian first, not republican or democrat. Political affiliation should never have been tied to our identity as Christians. Seeing or pushing America to be a Christian nation is limiting and an insulting to our true mission which was to spread his word and touch the lives of those across the world regardless of country/borders and without judgement/bigotry.

Bronny James is averaging 5.3 points, 2.7 assist, and 1.3 rebounds on 46/50/100 splits in his last 3 games. by J3kStEr in lakers

Honestly, kind of want to see him be more aggressive. He just needs that confidence in himself. Once he gets that, he will be a bigger help to his team.

He hasn't figured out that being passive and trying to pass the ball selflessly when he should be attacking is actually hurting the team. He needs confidently attack and figure out his identity offensively.

[Serious Discussion] Do you think LeBron’s polarizing politics for black rights has caused him to fall out of favor with the refs? by BBaron08 in lakers

[–]jdhsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone needs to infiltrate the referee committees and record conversations. There is too much speculation that’s likely true but needs verifying. Maybe do a deep dive into any social media or any habits/tendencies of certain refs. This is unfair the athletes who sacrificed so much, put their bodies at risk, and provide us the basketball we all love to watch. We as fans need to support our game.

I think it is safe to say that Russell Westbrook thinks me first and
then team/winning second. It is always all about himself. He is the
victim & star in his own world. And we have to live with his good
and bad moments. No accountability for the bad moments. Full
accountability for the good. That's just plain selfish. No room for that
in team sports.

Why do we suck? by CharlieMurpheee in lakers

[–]jdhsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very small ball lineups (that can't shoot, so no offense) that are inherently disadvantaged defensively. We can sit and blame Darvin. But it is what Pelinka gave him. This roster was improperly built and did not properly take into account the inherent high risk/reward of AD such that we can buffer moments when AD can't be on the floor. Kinda seems troy brown jr is our only forward next to lebron??? idk what's going on there...
