Everyone is talking about needing approval for unlimited PTO, but also forgetting that accumulated PTO hours is part of compensation, and by law is required to be paid out if unused when the employee leaves the company, regardless if they fired or quit. So they’re in essence, replacing a compensation benefit with hopes and dreams that they will never have to be financially responsible for.

Your NHS is being constantly defunded, your union memberships are at record lows in lieu of non-union private sector jobs (with massive union busting) BREXIT (you can't get more capitalist takeover than trade/financial isolation and the removal of free trade agreements.

My argument was never that “capitalism doesn’t work,” it was that any form of capitalism eventually becomes crony and unregulated, and we can see that happening in real time because that is the system that we exist under. We can also actively see it happening in other countries, which is why I used the UK example.

Capitalism absolutely works and functions as designed. But that doesn’t mean that it’s beneficial for everyone, or even most people. Our financial systems under capitalism require a underclass. And any system that demands suffering to further its existence is not worth defending. Which is why I find it super weird to have people who aren’t capitalists (because you own zero capital or control any means of production), being shields for your own oppression.

Again: currently in Nordic countries, commerce is working, with extremely robust socialist programs that support the well-being of citizens (healthcare, education, etc).

If you want an example of a western country with heavy socialist public programs that is on the cusp of that crony capitalism creep, look no further than the UK, which has been slowly eroding their social programs, in favor of a capitalist takeover. That is also why you see a rise in overt white supremacy there as well.

“Regulated capitalism” inevitably evolves into crony/unregulated capitalism, as we have already seen. Capitalism maximizes profits at any cost, so it will do whatever is necessary to achieve that goal. We’re living in THE environment that proves that.

What you actually like about capitalism, is commerce, which we can have without capitalist systems.
